My husband recently received an "official" GOP Platform Survey and cover letter in the mail. It's really "official" with a registration number in RED and everything. I'm surprised he received it, as we are registered Democrats. However, he is a white male, aged 60 years. Maybe that makes him qualified.
Nothing should surprise me anymore, but this letter and survey is disturbing. It is from the GOP chairman, Reince Priebus, and asks for a reply to the survey as well as a donation to the GOP to "block the Democrats all-out drive to take control of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014".
What surprised me was several statements and the tone of the letter by Priebus. He seems to truly believe that most people like himself - white, male, over 40 - want to stop the "liberal" agenda of Obama and the Dems. Priebus also wants to make sure that there is a plan to "effectively communicate our conservative principles". He also states, with underlining, that he wants "to rally the tens of millions of voters like you who DID NOT vote for more of President Obama's reckless government spending, higher taxes, and liberal redistributionist policies".
Is redistributionist even a real word? Please read below the curlicue for more. My apologies to older white men everywhere.
