Are you a wrapping paper person or a gift bag type person?

I personally enjoy wrapping each gift. There are times when a bag is handy. Say for a nice bottle of French wine?

Mosaic Art: Street Prophets

Corvallis Mosaics
(All photos ©BlueJessamine.)

Yesterday while strolling downtown Corvallis I took the time to appreciate the Mosaic Art on the garbage receptacles.

Corvallis Mosaics

The mosaics are a creation of local Artist Ella Rhoades of Sacred Shard Mosaics.

Rhoades’ vision is to install one brightly colored mosaic— created with help from the community — on 18 of those garbage receptacles in downtown Corvallis.
Join me over the squiggle for a few more examples of her art work.

Police Pursue Stolen Donut Truck!

This was a story on the local news last night that made me laugh. The reporter and news room crew had their fun too!

It sounds like a bad police joke — officers chase and catch donut thief. But it happened in Portland early Tuesday when officers pursued and arrested a suspect who stole a pastry delivery truck.

snip

As the officer was taking the initial report, another Central Precinct officer spotted the stolen van traveling eastbound on Southeast Powell Boulevard near 21st Avenue. The officer got behind the van and activated his overhead lights, but the driver of the van did not stop and the officer engaged in a traffic pursuit.

The suspect the pulled the van over at Southeast 59th Avenue and Mall Street, and the officer commanded him to put both of his hands out the window. When he did, the officer observed a pastry fall from the suspect's hands.

Additional officers arrived and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The victim was transported to the scene to take possession of the van. Officers noted that there were donuts all over the inside of the van, but otherwise there was no damage to the vehicle.

The local reporter and the owner of the van had some fun during the reporting of this story as they pondered which donut the thief was enjoying during his arrest!

Autumn 2013.

I usually go all out with hay bales, pumpkins and mums. This years garden needs no decorating as I grew everything I need. My only purchase this year is this cute Scarecrow.

Do you decorate for Autumn?

Driving, traveling 2014
(All photos ©BlueJessamine.)

I taught both of my sons to drive with an automatic. This summer I have been teaching them to drive a stick shift. The first ten times or so of them popping the clutch and the small car hopping was funny. Both have caught on pretty well. We have been using a rural area to drive in.

Driving a convertible helps both the teacher and the student.

Have you ever taught someone to drive? If so was it in an automatic or a stick shift? Did it make your nervous? ;D

LA De Da Parade 2014
(All photos ©BlueJessamine.)

Every year in the little town of Yachats, Oregon the Chamber of Commerce sponsors the La De Da Parade on the fourth of July. It is described as wacky, whimsical and fun! The participants dress in hand made costumes and the parade itself only last for a few minutes. It has become one of favorite parades.

Do you enjoy parades? If so which ones? Got any photos to share?
