We know that Hillary Clinton had a tremendous evening last night. She started off slowly and it seemed like she was reliving why she ran but quickly began to attack McCain and then smoothly joined the fight as an Obama supporter. I wish I could have felt sorry for all the media who had built up the Clinton-Obama rivalry as another way to deflate the Democratic convention. She did a great job for the cause.
Tonight we have, of course, President Clinton and Senator Biden. I decided to go back and see what the icon of modern conservative Republicanism and Great Communicator, Ronald Reagan, did to help his party when then, Governor Clinton, was working to made GHWB a one-termer.
As it turned out he did almost nothing to endorse the man. He dedicated 4 brief lines to the endorsement and the rest of his time to reminiscing, celebrating the US and his accomplishments and criticizing the Dems. It was as he hardly cared for this former VP. This will be a low bar I am sure Bill Clinton will clear handily. I am looking forward to having Bill smoothly follow in his wife's footsteps.
I look forward to both Senator Biden and President Bill Clinton taking some serious hide out the Republicans and McCain thus setting the stage for a great speech by the next President of the US, Barack Obama
