It's Urgent!  ... or not.  I've lost track.  At any rate, provide myself a little post election therapy I've written some fundraising email templates that the DNC is most welcome to use.

Subject: We Screwed Up

Jason,

It's true - we screwed up.  We lost track of why we got into politics in the first place.  But here is the good news – starting today we aren’t taking any money from banks or financial services industries. None. Nothing....

Perhaps is was Christine O'Donnell, or it might have been the government shutdown.  But a recent The University of Delaware’s Center for Political Communication poll shows that the two largest parties in the State of Delaware are the Democrats (40%) and Independents (34%), with the GOP bringing up the rear at 22%.

Independents, Other Party, Don't Know Party lean Democratic 33%, Republican 30% - so even among the I's the Democratic Party is the party of choice.

The full and official title of this diary is: "A Die Hard Christmas – An Open Source Christmas Musical for People who are a little tired of ‘The Nutcracker’ and ‘A Christmas Carol’"   but that wouldn't fit in the title field.

Act 1, Scene 1: “This Christmas will be different”

Shoppers excitedly bustle on the sidewalk in front of Nakatomi Towers in Midtown Manhattan. Enter John McClane. [Song - "This Christmas is going to be different/With a bang not a whimper" John McClane & Chorus.] The song includes backstory on the troubled relationship between McCalne and his wife, Holly Gennaro-McClane, and how John McClane hopes to use the goodwill of the season to romance his estranged wife back into the sack.

The crowds slowly part and McClane is left under a single follow spot. McClane reveals more of his motivations. He is withdrawn and depressed because he thinks he has lost the ability to come up with new catchphases. [Song: “I Got Nothing (For Christmas).”] Only by learning the true meaning of Christmas can he regain his catchphrase mojo and win back Holly.   To do that he must defeat the greed and commercialism of Christmas, McClane exits into the building.

Delaware's Jack Markell piles on Romney pointing out the obvious, that Romney should have known that his taxes were going to be an issue.

“It would seem to me that he would be ready for this, recognizing the comparison would come up to his father and to others,” Markell said. “The issue is he’s the one running for president. The questions have been raised about him, he could have them answered.”
Markell rubs salt into GOP wounds by making this about Romney's poor judgment, and I LOVE IT!

More Republicans are  suggesting that "they might want to start exploring whether it is too late to replace Mitt Romney atop the party's ticket."

I've been reading a lot of Steve Jobs commentary and this clicked.  It is from actor/comedian/technophile, Stephen Fry, who was a long time friend of Jobs.

You, my fellow Delawarean, are a goddamn idiot.   How can you run this stupid "Al Gore" style mincing piece of shit re-election campaign?  Knowing what we know about Republicans - do you have rocks in your goddamn head?  Good lord oh mighty, your are a low life piece of shit if you are just kicking back and putting this thing on auto pilot hoping for a narrow electoral college victory.

By "our" I'm talking about Democrats, like me, who held out some hope that Obama was going to be a Democratic President.   By "next move" I mean - honestly, anybody got any ideas?

I was having this conversation on Delawareliberal.net and a fellow Dem suggested that our problem is that we think we progressives are "the base" when in fact we not even in the same room as "the base."   So I am kind of adrift right now.

I'll admit it, I am enjoying the epic flame-out of the Gingrich 2012 campaign. Watching him contort himself to prove that he is totally consistent with his 24-hours-ago-self is like paying the extra money to see behind the scenes at the circus freak show. Yes it is fun, but this Tiffany's story is bigger than it looks.  This latest blunder presents a golden opportunity for those of us that have been trying to show that tax cuts don't create jobs.
