The ACLU's defending Larry Craig's flirtation with Minnesota airport policemen.
"ST. PAUL, Minnesota - In a legal effort to help a U.S. senator, the American Civil Liberties Union is arguing that people who have sex in public bathrooms have an expectation of privacy.
Republican Senator Larry Craig is asking the Minnesota Court of Appeals to let him withdraw his guilty plea to disorderly conduct related to a bathroom sex sting at the Minneapolis airport last year."
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for respecting the crack pipe in your closet and the sex you have in your apartment as a private act in the eyes of the law, but there's a reason it's called a "public" restroom.
It's the 21st Century - Come out already or go on the DL, it's not my place to decide for you - but don't do it in an airport restroom. The ACLU dilutes its effectiveness every time it takes a position this extreme - reminds me of the old Onion headline "ACLU Defends Neo-Nazis' Right to Burn Down ACLU Headquarters."
