Rumsfeld yesterday:
"One has to be concerned about it from a proliferation standpoint -- if you believe them that they have weapons," Rumsfeld said.
"I do not know of certain knowledge that they do. I'm told that today in the press they indicated that they do. But they've indicated other things from time to time that have not necessarily proved out. So I just don't know whether they do," he added.
So, let me get this straight...in early 2003 Iraq says "We don't have WMDs, come on in and take a look." Rumsfeld (among others) doesn't believe them, Iraq is invaded, zero WMDs are found, making the United States look foolish and dangerous.
Now it's early 2005, North Korea says "We have WMDs, F@$k you, America." Rumsfeld doesn't believe them, Operation: Ignore is left intact, making the United States look foolish and dangerous.
The only explanation for Rumsfeld's aversion to prudent and logical courses of action, is that he comes from Bizarro world where he was a janitor, one of the most respected offices in the States United government.
