Good News! Reuters/IPSOS O 47 R 46

by JCPOK

Here is link.

That's +2 movement for Obama from yesterday - O +1 and R -1.

I have yet to see IDB/TIPP today, but this means WaPo and Reuters moved in Obama's direction today.

So, let's chill.

Obama Doubling Down in VA, NC & FL

by JCPOK

David Axelrod just set the story straight on the misinformation from the likes of Major Garrett and Politico regarding Obama's alleged pull-out from NC, VA and FL.  The Obama camp is not pulling out of these states.  Instead, they are doubling down.

New Florida Poll; Obama +3!

by JCPOK

I know it's Zogby, but who the fuck cares.  Right now, the important thing is the narrative.  So, please embrace polls like this and help foster the narrative that Obama is winning in these states.

Harry Reid has claimed on more than one occasion that a source with close ties to Bain Capital informed him that the Romneys paid absolutely no taxes in one or more years over the past 10 years.  This is a serious accusation that has obviously damaged the Romney campaign and Mitt Romney’s personal standing with the American people - we don’t like rich guys who game the system and pay little or no taxes while we work hard to make ends meet and pay exactly, or close to, our marginal rate to the US Treasury.

In an effort to settle this controversy, the Obama campaign has offered to end all discussion of the issue if the Romneys release a complete set of returns for years 2012-2012.  I don’t think that’s enough.  Democrats need to be held accountable.  Harry Reid knows how harmful his accusations have been and he should be forced to publicly apologize if the Romneys conclusively establish that Reid’s accusations are false.

Wisconsin; Why Barrett Lost - 10:1

by JCPOK

Walker Campaign Expenditures @ $30,000,000
Barrett Campaign Expenditures @ $3,000,000

Ratio of Walker to Barrett campaign expenditures @ 10:1

Walker had a bazooka.  Barrett had a slingshot.  Barrett had no chance.

This should be the lead story on every news show and in every newspaper tomorrow.  The statistics, and the implications with respect to the same, are simply stunning. Simply stunning.

Want to Kill the Boehner Bill?

by JCPOK

The fate of the bill rests with the following 14 tea-party members who signed the cut, cap and balance pledge, otherwise known as the I-Am-Full-of-Bullshit Pledge or the I-Want-to-Sabotage-the-Obama-Economy Pledge.  These 14 are currently undecided. FreedomWorks, the national tea-party group led by Dick "I like to call myself an economist" Armey, has come out against the Boehner bill because it does not comply with the pledge.  Apparently, Boehner has to get 12 of the 14 to say yes or the bill dies.  Call these representatives and remind them of their sacred duty to cut, cap and balance and the fact that the Boehner's bill accomplishes none of the three (it doesn't, so no deceit here).  Let them know they will be held accountable if they vote yes (again, no deceit here because the tea-party will hold them accountable).

I experienced a pretty severe case of radio-induced road rage on my way to work this morning while listening to a piece by Mara Liasson on NPR's Morning Edition.  Ms. Liasson completely misrepresented the facts surrounding the debt crisis debate in Congress and then relied solely on the analysis of a GOP political analysts to posit that both parties were equally at fault in this debate.  Incredibly, the piece ends with the strong suggestion (if not conclusion) that Obama will ultimately be held responsible for all of this and that his reelection prospects will be seriously compromised if a deal is not reached soon or if America's credit rating is downgraded.  Basically, the meme of the piece was that nobody has the majority of the blame and Obama will suffer.  Sound like GOP talking points to you?

Here was the email I fired off to NPR:

I'm working on a new T-shirt/bumper sticker line with the following - "Trust-Fund Kids Unite.... Save the Bush Tax Cuts!" I hope it exposes the lunacy that has infected our country.  I hope it helps the middle class and the working poor just how badly we've all been conned.

Below is a diary that I published here back in January of this year.  I have re-posted it 2 times since.  I think that breaks the rules here, but frankly I don;t care at this point.  I think the diary is an incentive for us all, and an admonition to some, to make sure Jim Inhofe is not right about us.  Here it is:

Is Jim Inhofe Right About You?

by JCPOK

Below is a diary that I published here back in January of this year.  I have copied it in its entirety.  I think the message I was hoping to send then is even more germane now.  I truly believe that, in order to be a successful political force in this country, progressive must stay committed to the political process with the understanding that we are in this for the long haul.  Here it is:

I had an interesting encounter at the Starbucks this morning.  A group of older men hold their coffee club there each morning and politics is definitely the topic of choice.  These guys are conservative (this is Oklahoma) and the occasional Obama/Pelosi insult can be overheard followed by a bout of bullying laughter.  Most in the group are retired or semi-retired from the oil and gas industry and are, for the most part, extremely wealthy.  These men have a lot of time and a lot of money on their hands.  There are generally well regarded in the community and have some form of friendly communication with many of the customers that come and go from the shop.
