Republicans are having a victory party and it will be on an undisclosed Caribbean island. Agenda items are: (1) celebrate beating the Democrats (2) make plans to get rid of Obama in 2012 and (3) be entertained by Rush Limbaugh, Sara Palin, Michelle Bachmann and Fox News celebrities.
The costs are expected to run $200 million a day and some 3,000 party goers are expected. Naturally, the funding sources are undisclosed.
This should sound somewhat familiar - a lot like the noise Tea Party types made about the President's trip to Asia. Pouncing on unfounded information coming out of India from an undisclosed source, Limbaugh, Bachmann, Beck and Hannity exceeded their previous records for ignoring ethics. Quotations each of them made about the trip are eye popping.
Still, there are lessons to be learned. First among these is that those who dismiss what happened or choose to move on to the next thing may inadvertently be empowering Republicans to keep doing the same thing over and over again.
All in all, quite a lesson for Democrats. All of which leads to thoughts about their possibilities in 2012 - And how to avoid death by a thousand cuts in the future.
