Rep. Rich Nugent Doesn't Believe That Climate Change is a Problem
Facts. Those pesky little figures and statistics that support the reality of climate change. No matter where you stand on Planet Earth, no matter what your politics are FACTS are FACTS.
Here is the problem. Many of our leaders think they can hide behind phrases like "I am not a scientist", and treat climate change facts as silly imaginings of a bunch of nerds who run around screaming "the sky is falling". Not true. This kind of thinking is dangerous and the impact of ignoring the real problems of climate change will affect generations to come.
Here are some FACTS that we canât afford to ignore:
Sea levels will rise by 7-23 inches by the end of this century due to global warming.- IPCC 2007
Sea levels have risen more in the last 100 years than in the last 2000 combined. Sea levels rose 7 inches in the last century.
The impact of global warming will be devastating if left unchecked. It can lead to massive food and water shortages and well as threaten wildlife and ecosystems.
Since 1880, the average temperature has risen by 1.4-Fahrenheit degrees
Seventy percent of Americans view climate change as a serious problem and support federal efforts to reduce global warming pollution - ABC/Washington Post poll.
Here is what your political representatives have to say (or donât say) when approached with theses FACTS:
"I am not a scientist." - Gov. Rick Scott, Fl. (Met with 5 of Florida's top climate scientists and did not ask a single question)
The government can't change the weather. I said that in the speech. We can pass a bunch of laws that will destroy our economy, but it isn't going to change the weather. --- 'I don't think there's the scientific evidence to justify it,' - Sen. , FL
More FACTS. Here is how my opponent, Rep. voted on environmental topics :
Voted YES on opening Outer Continental Shelf to oil drilling.
Voted YES on barring EPA from regulating greenhouse gases.
Signed the No Climate Tax Pledge by AFP.- No Climate Tax Pledge: "I pledge to the taxpayers of my state, and to the American people, that I will oppose any legislation relating to climate change that includes a net increase in government revenue."
Cap-and-trade has no impact on global temperatures. - Nugent signed the Contract From America

Ignoring 98% of the scientific community is not only dangerous it is irresponsible.
As citizens of a ecologically diverse nation and world we HAVE to listen to the FACTS. At one time our ancestors thought the world was flat and science proved them wrong, no matter how much they wanted to believe. But in 2014, when we KNOW that science is based on facts that can be proven this belligerent, ignorant thinking is unacceptable.
We need to face these challenges as stewards of our amazing planet and make sure that we take measures to minimize our impact on our environment. You can count on me to do my part to ensure that we leave future generations with a healthy world.
