This is welcome news and hopefully part of a continuing trend:

In a surprise announcement coming nine months after police in riot gear dispelled racially charged protests, President Obama is banning the federal government from providing some military-style equipment to local departments and putting stricter controls on other weapons and gear distributed to law enforcement.

Iowa landowner claims he was offered prostitute by oil pipeline company

Hughie Tweedy of rural Montrose told reporters Monday that a regional representative of Dakota Access LLC on three separate occasions offered “the sexual services of a woman” if Tweedy would allow the pipeline to run through his property.

Dakota Access, a subsidiary of Texas-based Energy Transfer Partners, wants to construct a 1,134-mile pipeline to carry crude oil from North Dakota to Illinois. The $3.8 billion pipeline would span 343 miles and 18 counties in Iowa, from the state’s northwest corner to the southeast corner.

Two America's indeed.

Millionaire 'reserve deputy' Robert Bates buys his way onto the police force, shoots and kills a black man and gets this treatment:

Video shows Reserve Deputy Robert Bates announcing he is going to deploy his Taser after an undercover weapons sting on April 2 but then shooting Eric Courtney Harris in the back with a handgun.

Bates was charged with second-degree manslaughter Monday.

He surrendered Tuesday morning, accompanied by his attorney, Clark Brewster, and immediately posted bail of $25,000.

There are a lot of major things going on in the world, a lot of legitimate fears of abuse of power and out of control government. There are a lot of things that need attention, or speaking out on... which is why I was curious of what my Governor though about the denial of life and liberty to so many men and women across the country, more specifically the recent events in Baltimore. So I did a little googling and found... not a peep on Baltimore. However, I did find this:

Petraeus Gets Probation

by LieparDestin

If you are going to leak very classified information, its probably best to be the head of the CIA and not a low-level analyst, as the results of the Petraeus scandal show:

David Petraeus, the retired US army general and former CIA director responsible for the development of the hugely influential “counter-insurgency” strategy used in Iraq and Afghanistan, was sentenced on Thursday to two years’ probation and ordered to pay a fine of $100,000 for sharing highly classified information with his lover and biographer, Paula Broadwell.

So for at least two years people on this site have been writing about the ridiculousness of not just guns, and toy guns, but guns 'aimed' at women... pink guns, and things like 'bra-holsters'. I quote Hunter:

You make a fashion-oriented concealed carry product. America's female gun obsessives are all about hiding their guns in (1) stylish purses dedicated to the task or (2) um, attached directly to bras? All right, I get the purse, but having an under-the-bra holster accomplishes exactly what, now? It means that whenever you get in a situation that urgently requires you to get your gun, first you have to unbutton your shirt. I'm just going to guess that the people designing "gun products for women" are much the same people that write action movies and design video games. I don't mean that in a good way.

LAPD Explains How Teen Standing Next To Pal Holding Fake Gun Was Shot

The LAPD on Thursday met with reporters to explain how an unarmed 15-year-old was shot in the back in south L.A. Tuesday morning.

The teen, they said, was standing in an alley next to someone holding a fake gun.

The Guardian has posted  an article about FOX New's embedding ISIS's latest snuff film, unedited on their webpage:

Fox News has chosen to embed on its website the video of Islamic State burning a hostage to death, a move which makes them the only US media organisation to broadcast the video in full.

The extremely graphic 22-minute video shows Muadh al-Kasasbeh, a Jordanian pilot, being set on fire and burned to death in a cage. Fox News did not post the videos of the killings of previous Isis hostages, and no other media company has hosted this video.

Something tells me that Bill O'Reilly or Rush Limbaugh will not pick up on this story. All the opportunities for them to tell their audience that any young black 'thug' with a record of 'burglary' is a monster who obviously needs shot for the protection of society will be missed... and that's a damn shame. As well as being quite on purpose of course:

Handcuffed teen Jamal Rutledge saves Fort Lauderdale Police Officer Franklin Foulks’ life

A HANDCUFFED teenager is being hailed as a hero after he helped save the life of a police officer who was processing him.

Last September, Jamal Rutledge — a juvenile defendant — was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and burglary, according to NBC Miami.

But as officer Franklin Foulks was booking Rutledge, the cop collapsed holding his chest in distress.

A while back some idiots in Texas thought it would be a great idea to have a meet and greet with gun bearing kids sitting on Santa's lap.

Not to be outdone by Texas stupidity, Florida has taken things even further.

Assault Rifle Theme Park For Children:

A new attraction where children as young as 13 fire military-grade weapons in zombie, gangster and cowboy-themed simulators has been slammed by gun control campaigners.

Although management claim their Orlando, Florida, attraction provides a safe place for the use of firearms, critics claim it is unsuitable for an area known for its child-friendly attractions.

The website for the business - named Machine Gun America - states it is Orlando's 'first automatic adrenaline attraction'.

Alls it would take is one 'concerned citizen on 911' to end one of these kids lives, if some other accident doesn't happen first.

In the land of 'innocent until proven guilty' and an obvious post racial society... I thought this was worth sharing:

Cops caught on film threatening weeping girlfriend of man they had just mistakenly shot dead in Walmart for holding a BB gun

Footage has emerged of police in Ohio aggressively questioning the girlfriend of a man who they had just shot dead for holding a BB gun in a Walmart store.

An officer from the Beavercreek department repeatedly demands to know where the slain John Crawford III, 22, got his 'gun' from in an interview with his weeping girlfriend, Tasha Thomas.

Thomas, who is not told until the end of the interview that her loved one has died, is clearly distressed by the line of question from the disbelieving officer, Rodney Curd, who repeatedly suggests she is lying.

Instead of investigating a tragic 'mistake' (and I use the term very loosely), they began to interrogate the dead mans girlfriend, not even telling her the poor man was dead. In fact, she was so adamant about hers (and his) innocence, that she swore on her dead relatives:
