It is genuinely a heartwarming to see all the protests arising spontaneously around the nation. It reminds one that America is still a democracy in some ways. However, it is unreasonable to expect that these protests can continue for four years. People have jobs and lives they must return to occasionally. So I believe that we need to establish an infrastructure to enable us to continue with an effective protests.

Above all we need organizers in big and small cities who can schedule protests and handle any paperwork that may be needed and established for reserve protest locations. In addition, we need a central infrastructure for information and perhaps a website just listing protests and information, like meet up.org. we already have huge email lists at MoveOn and the Barney Sanders campaign. These and other email addresses from local organizers should be merged into a large database so that information can be sent out quickly and efficiently. I don't think we need resources other than email addresses as neither paper mailings that take too long given our short time. Nor phone banking though local organizers may wish to do that.
We also need a leader specifically for protest organization. Or perhaps a steering committee such as we've seen in the past, for example with America for Gore on which I was privileged to serve
Why do we really need something like this? As a simple example I heard that there was a demonstration in San Jose, where I live, and it was probably accessible to me despite my handicaps but I never found out about it in time. Our protest will be even larger if we can get the information out in an organized manner. Some of this work, such as a calendar, might be feasible here at Daily Kos.
In any case I throw these ideas out here for our community to digest and hopefully comment in a helpful and reasonable manner. And as a final comment I just know that I am happy to be back with a new diary after all this time.
