To ensure, in the words of President Abraham Lincoln, that “government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth”, we have some conditions that must be demanded of the president-elect before you cast your vote for him:
1. The president-elect must sell all of his business ventures and put the proceeds in a true blind trust that is not controlled in any way by any members of his family or inner circle.
2. The president-elect must adhere to recent precedent and release all of his tax records for the previous 10 years.
Absent these conditions, a president can not have the full faith and confidence of the American people that he is working solely on their behalf. We are already seeing reports of foreign leaders being encouraged to take actions that will benefit the president-elect’s businesses, which would be illegal. That is not a healthy relationship for our republic.
As electors, you have the responsibility to elect a president who has the respect of all American citizens. Please take your responsibility seriously.
Thank you.
