I am an idiot

by Paula68154

I have a good friend that I have been lunching with for ten years. She and I have helped each other through many challenging life events during our weekly lunch therapy. She is one of the smartest ppl I know. She's a bad ass. She has a black belt in karate, she's taught theology, she has a license to practice law, she volunteered with me during Obama's 08 campaign, she teaches conceal and carry classes (very successful too).

You know what's next....

Don't Feed the Trolls

by Paula68154

Don't feed trolls. Don't give them water. If you really want to make their life even more miserable, work to get Dems elected!

I understand and appreciate that when a troll baits you that you hear a shring in your head. In your mind, you are unsheathing Excalibur to duel the evil sorceress. But I'm telling you, nothing felt better than on Nov 2, 2008, when Kos wrote the best diary I've ever seen: hahahahahahahahaha

I would love to see that again, wouldn't you? In fact, I would get an account at Red State just to be able to post that on their site!

A small commitment of time from each of us will have an impact! Find something you care about. I want to get more Democratic voters registered! This week, I plan to find out what I can do to make it happen!

Any SMEs on US Unfunded Mandates?

by Paula68154

Im looking for some information on US unfunded mandates, so are there any Kossacks that are subject matter experts (SMEs)?

I believe that the right is going to make this their next argument over drastic budget cuts.

I'm pretty knowledgeable on pension unfunded liabilities, I just can't find a good analysis wrt federal government.

I would deeply appreciate any information or thoughts.

Twitter names round up

by Paula68154

I don't know if there is an official Kos Twitterers, Tweeters, whatevlist but I would like to have more people from our site to tweet with and follow.

There are so many great thinkers and writers on this site! If you have Twitter account and are cool with sharing it, let me know your handle in the comments!

Mine is @paula68154

My comments are kind of snarky, sometimes serious, and not limited to politics (I love cooking).

I think that kos should add a twitter handle field on the profile that appears in diaries, of course not mandatory.

So I have been thinking about Tuesday's results. It was a WTF moment for me. All the gains we have made the all the gains we were going to make..... I was pretty bummed out.

Why, what happened? I think we all know why. Better minds than mine will perform an in depth analysis and figure out what exactly happened, but I have been thinking a lot about Reid's race. Could we use that formula in 2012??

We must GOTV!

by Paula68154

Just surfing the net reading great blogs like dkos won't help anyone get elected! On Nov 3, we can resume our normal activites.

Please do some get out the vote (GOTV) for your local democrats! I am and it is really fun! You get to be around other democrats, which I thoroughly enjoy! And, people bring up food and drinks. It's not a party, but it is really enjoyable!

If you have never participated in a GOTV initiative, it is really easy. At this point in the campaign, you will only be contacting Democrats or people who say they are voting D. You are provided a phone and a script, how hard is that? And you don't have to commit to a lot of time, any amount is terrific! The campaign I volunteer on has an internet option too!

My GOTV program

by Paula68154

This is a short post, but I decided to hell with the diary police.

My plan is simple: I plan to get all my democratic friends to vote this November by either going to lunch or dinner after we vote. I am thinking that if we all do this, we may even help out that voter enthusiasm. This is in addition to participating in the gotv for my local house member. We went blue for Obama, hopefully we can do the same for Tom White.  But hope alone won't get us there.. We need to get plugged in, again.

I cannot bear the thought of a republican congress, can you?

I wish we could have accomplished more, but change takes time. I believe that our best chance for an America that works for all of us is with the democrats.

So let's get out there. I plan to go to town hall meetings and ask questions that are uncomfortable for our incumbent, who by the way sits on the republican study committee.

It's time people. It's time.

Non christians: SDSU

by Paula68154

I got this email from my christian sister who knows by political beliefs. I did not respond because it's not worth the arguement (me vs entire and extended family).

It makes me want to vomit.

I want to say:

We can only hope to one day be a theocracy, like Iran! Where women have no rights and are beaten and their husband suffer no consequence.

If the framers wanted to have a christian government, then why didn't they incorporate those beliefs in the Constitution.

Just wanted to rant.

Hey, I came across this and it made me smile. Given the news lately, I needed something to smile about and thought you might too! This will remind us that the future is bright.

These young ppl are having so much fun, made me feel young again too. My son is going to college in September, and I am so excited for him to begin his journey.

Disclosure: I was a choir geek!

Disclosure II: I don't watch Glee, but will now.
