Civil War Signs for Christmas

by Perseus

Missouri, just in time for Christmas, has hung signs on the highways commerating our involvement in the Civil War.  Ain't that a nice gift for baby Jesus.  NO WAR should be commerated much less the civil war!

CBS Evening News Trustworthy?

by Perseus

CBS evening news did a piece on the pro's and con's of health care reform tonight; did you see it?  The pro health care side while dealt with a small business trying to obtain health care, the con side highlighted Tenn care.  Is Tenn Care really a fair comparison?  Why didn't CBS news compare the public option to Medicaid, Medicare, or the Massachusetts plan instead of Tenn care.  Tenn Care would be completely different under a federal umbrella with a public option.  There would be more people in the pool, and thus the costs would be lower.  Also, Tenn Care covers the poorest, and the sickest the very people that private insurance companies don't cover.  It seems to me that CBS news has taken a Fox News fair and balanced reporting approach.  As long as the stories spins to the right in a whirling dervish then it is fair and balanced.  CBS a trusted news source worth of Walter Cronkite?  Fair and Balanced?  You decide.

No PO, National Strike

by Perseus

If we do not get a public option, a compromise from single payer, as House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, is pushing then the only option is a national strike.  Every labor organization will have to band together and not go to work.  We will have to resort to restraining, not hurting, scabs.  Please write Nancy Pelosi http://speaker.house.gov/... and simply tell her she risks a national strike without the public option.  Also tell her as a female if she allows Hoyer to run her over she will lose all respect of the party.  We are going to have to get tough, or we can kiss everything else goodbye.

McCaskill's Town Hall Fairly Calm

by Perseus

Senator McCaskill's town hall ended about 2 hours ago, and the crowd was very angry from the start on both sides of the issue.  The crowd leaned more con health care reform than pro, however it is always hard to measure because at most of these events the pro side seems to be more reserved.

Per KMOV T.V. in St. Louis, Missouri over 800 people were left standing outside and couldn't get in due to capacity limit, too many people in the gymnasium.  I however was one of the fortunate that did make it in to the gymnasium.  The summit turned more into a shouting match over health care reform.  Of course, Matt Ssczesny of  KMOV reported that he thought there were more against health care reform.  I thought it was more like 60 for reform 40 against.  The only problem is the 40 against were very very very vocal, and disruptive as well.

MDs Should Wipe down Stethoscope

by Perseus

Since Health Care is the topic of the day, and it is August, and H1N1 is all the rage, and reportedly will be back this fall, shouldn't MDs wipe down stethoscopes, or sterilize them like a barber does combs?  Of all places that I think that would be dangerous to pass viruses and or germs is the doctors office.  We close down ships, schools, office buildings for cleaning when a virus breaks out causing diarrhea or food poisoning.  A chiropractors office is ripe for MRSA, as well as gyms.  I firmly believe more focus should be placed on decontamination in doctors offices.

Lobbyists Can; You Can't

by Perseus

How in the Sam H*** is it that lobbyists can talk to any Congressperson, but I can only talk to the one that represents my district.  Talk about a violation of free speech.  I have to enter a zip code to talk to a Congressperson, or send an email to them?  Do you think the lobbyists may have had something to do with that little piece of BS?

"Say You Love Satan" a review

by Perseus

This is a piece of theatre that will help to define a generation, just as the Sound of Music, and Hello Dolly defined theirs. The story is about Andrew, a gay grad student, who finds his dream stud, only to find out he isn't so dreamy, and as a matter of fact the dream turns into more of a nightmare as his new beau turns out to be the son of Satan.
