As the Surgery date approached I found myself in trouble with the recover side. I thought they were going to put me in a rehab or Skilled Nursing Facility. On my trip to the farm I got the news that I would be sent home. I went to the Farm to see Tal, My cousin’s hubby who was dying from Prostate Cancer. I bought the Ticket on a Thursday & Tal Died Saturday Night. The Family said please come up anyway. So I did.
When I got home I decided I need to ask this wonderful Community for help. I ask Denise for help. She told me she couldn’t write the post because of her position with Daily Kos.
She contacted Onomastic. Ono asked several questions during the week. Ono wanted to post the diary went I could be here to monitor it.
I have been able to get to Pro Fab where I work just about everyday, There was a few weeks when I couldn’t push myself to keep going. I thought I needed to be off my feet! Guess what, the pain got worse!! So I started working more.
Then one of the guys at work brought in a walker. What a difference those wheels made for me. the last month I’ve been out the door by 6:00 am. Then I would go to Drakestone to work on the trailer. the last few weeks I would leave there after 7:00 pm. I thought I could finish it. It’s not going to happen.
So lets get back to Ono, I barely know her. I would see her in APR a lot. I have seen her do these fundraisers before, She has that touch. I has no idea how she would do the post for me. When I saw the picture she used It brought a huge smile upon my face.
The gates were made For Bobby Johns, He drove cars in Nascar and won 2 races back in the 60’s. I had gone to his shop to say hi. During the conversation he asked if I know a place to get his gate fixed,
this is what was left of his gate.
I drew a picture of what I thought would look good. His partner Wanda looked at it opened a draw & handed me 1000 bucks to get started. They were so happy when I finished. Bobby couldn’t get over how the pins to close it worked. that was 2006!
I was really surprised how much Ono searched Daily Kos to write the post for me!! I’ll never be able to return the favor!!

Ono set a goal of 7000, I thought 5000 was asking for to much! Anyway The community poured it on.
I’m still in a state of mind that I can’t explain. Very Joyous, Got to pinch myself to make sure I am not dreaming!
Over my 20 years here, I’ve given to fund raiser, they are fun to watch.
I was working on the house from the time it posted till sunset yesterday to get power to a Heater Pro Fab junked. It needed two elements!!!
Ono was worried I was crawling around under the house. there was no crawling I was sliding on my fat belly squeezing under a beam a cross the center of the home.
The romex is laying on the ground under the house!!! No Straps on most of it, the plumbing is a mess too!
I did get a hot shower!! last summer I made a rig of a solar water heater that worked great till Oct.
So I am 3 wake ups away from getting on the table.
Last night ROMtech called, they have been trying to contact me. Their devise hooks up to the internet & the doctor can see what If I am doing the work to get my new knee working. I don’t know enough about what is going to happen. The doctor orders stuff and I get a call, they ask me if I am going to pay!! I answered if the doctor says I need it I’ll find a way to pay for it.
On the trip back from the farm I lost my wallet! Cards were turned off. The company card is back, But I told them I didn’t want it till I came back to work.
My Card should get here Tuesday Wednesday. I asked the boss for a card to buy 375 dollars worth!! the face was just so funny!
I said you told me you would back me up get my knees done. He pulled out his personal card!! LOL I’ve known him 31 years!!
But Back again to thanking the community.
You have me in good shape to be able to pay the bills and rest without worry. I will get a disability check, not sure how much or often. the fastest I can get back to work is like 4 months, the doctor told me the second surgery will be in 2 to 3 months, so if I do good and the second one is in 2 months I could possible do light duty in 4 months.
An incision takes 12 weeks to heal!
I am going to Drakestone for a couple hours. So I’ll be on my phone to read this for a while. My big fingers are not good for writing replies.
I hope I didn’t miss thanking each of you that sent me money, made a comment! The help this community has given me is over the top. I’ve never experienced anything like this.
I’ll write again when I get home, I’ll do a draft that I can add a little info & hit publish before I go to the hospital.
