I submitted this back in August 11, 2016 (1:21 PM), before we were stuck with the current (mis)administration. I think it’s even more apropos now that we’ve endured 16 months of DJT, et al. I hope it's OK to ‘repeat’ now that we have seen the definition of ‘”TRUMPERY” in all its ‘turpitude’ having come to fruition. My original had a photo of DJT’s Boeing 727 with his surname emblazoned on its fuselage though I opined it lacked the last 3 letters, viz. ‘ery’ [I couldn’t figure out how to add the photo here but I'm sure Google can find one — but who cares??]:

[This is my first attempt (11 August 2016) at a ‘blog’ since for some reason I was unable to preview or submit this reply to a comment today. I hope it’s done correctly. ]
I have a more lengthy description but since cut-and-paste isn’t working, this’ll be short: Look up the word ‘trumpery’ — you’ll be fascinated at how apropos it is to the republican’t candidate. And it’s been around since around the 15th century — talk about prescience!!! Briefly from Merriam-Webster:
Trumpery
- “worthless nonsense”
- “trivial or useless articles: junk”
- “archaic: tawdry finery”
- Origin: Middle English (Scots) trumpery deceit, from Middle French, from tromper to deceive
It would appear Trump (so-called) U., among no doubt many of DT’s escapades, falls within or near the M-W definition of ‘trumpery’, a ‘sorta eponym’.
If this doesn’t get close, nothing does.
Best wishes to all and keep the faith — in a secular sense, of course!!
