I almost never comment or post on this site, though I’m a frequent and long-time reader. I’m posting now because I honestly need some advice. I’m a California voter (in Riverside, CA, as my nom-de-plume attests), and my vote-by-mail ballot is sitting here on my desk, un-mailed. I am of course going to vote No on the recall, but then the second page of the ballot has a large number of names and, if Yes wins (heaven forbid) the one that gets the most votes will be the governor. The “official” advice of the Democratic party is to leave it blank but I’m very uncomfortable doing that, especially with a disaster-waiting-to-happen like Elder on the ballot (and apparently he’s the front-runner with about 12% in the polls, which is enough be first weirdly enough).
There are actually six Democrats on the list, none of whom I know anything about. No actual prominent Democrat decided to put their name out there.
So what to do? Vote for Faulconer (a Republican former mayor of San Diego), as a least-worst choice? (That’s advice of the editorial page of the LA Times.) Or one of the Democrats? Or, leave it blank?
I await your advice, Kossacks!
