This is the place for your observations of the natural world around you. What have you seen today?
I went for a walk with my sister Mimi along the riverfront bike path from Davenport IA into Bettendorf and back.
Lots of birds - pity I'm not good at identifying all of them. Lots of ducks, a few geese, and some pelicans. The latter were mostly sitting on a log out in the river when we went past them; later as we sat on a swing at our turn-around, several of them flew past upriver.
Thistles, yellow sweet clover, and milkweed are partly blooming, partly gone to seed. In honor of my recent re-read of Lois Bujold's Sharing Knife series, I went and smelled the milkweed flowers (very sweet) and observed a few green-and-gold caterpillars on one. Queen Anne's Lace is in full bloom.
So what have you seen? Bold birds, mighty mushrooms, frumious flowers, a bandersnatch or two?
