So this just in, while Europe and the world are waiting daily to see what happens with the euro and if the ongoing economic crisis will take a turn for the worse, Reuters has reported from Brussels that inflation in the euro zone has taken a higher leap than expected this August. According to the story, this may hold the European Central Bank (ECB) back from further lowering interest rates during a meeting next week.
It is always terrifying how powerless man sometimes is against what nature comes up with. According to USA statistics, the country is hit with its worst drought in 25 years and food prices are expected to rise accordingly. The farming heartlands of the US are severely affected – 61 percent of the country, according to Yahoo! News.
20 years ago, it wasn’t a problem. Now it irritates me when I’m on the train. It irritates me when I’m in a restaurant. It even irritates the hell out of me when I’m at the library. The curse of the mobile phone is everywhere. There are only two places I can think of off the top of my head that are relatively free from ringtones and loud bickering. The church and the airplane. These aren’t entirely safe, however. I remember being at a funeral in Ireland when I heard a buzzing sound next to me and the church bench started vibrating. The guy immediately ran outside into the rain to take the call. I have memories of flying into Belgrade airport when a fat, bald, sunburned man dressed in a shirt three sizes too small whipped out his phone and proceeded to make a call 2 minutes from touchdown.
If there is one thing where imagination and creativity seem to be having no limits, it’s apps for the iPhone. Still being appless and iPhone-less myself, I basically move around on the surface as far as this particular area is concerned. But I follow the news as avidly as anyone else and this hear definitely caught my attention, especially since I’m a bookworm.
Statistics about the iPhone certainly make it obvious that the success of the product is staggering, so it makes sense to create as many different apps as possible to appeal to as many preferences and tastes as possible.
A big thank you to everyone who took the time to read and comment on my post about China!
Let’s say you posted pictures from your vacation online, and someone commented you looked ugly. You could ignore the comment, erase it or block the person who left it. But still, it’s unpleasant, right?
China certainly makes it into the headlines. Take two recent examples that showcase some key trends. What’s especially important is that these trends have a direct impact on Europe and the United States.
After experiencing real Siberian cold, and I mean way, way, way below zero, one tends to think that it can’t get cold in Europe. That it just isn’t the place where below-zero temperatures even happen. Why? Because Siberia is somewhat of an exception, and it’s the place people most often mention or joke about when talking of extremely cold weather that makes it hard for people to be out and about.
"The Artist" brings something to your movie experience which goes deeper than just an enveloping sense of enjoyment from a well-made film.
