I’ve been on this site since the original Ned Lamont days. I rarely write much but occasionally let go with some inane comment.
On the other hand, I’m a voracious consumer of all the good stuff that you folks are contributing. It helps shape my outlook, gives me points of view that I may not have considered and keeps me current.
Having said that, I need to briefly rant/complain about a writing style that is pervasive on such sites as HuffPo, CBS News, and others, and is creeping in here. Here’s the deal. It drives me nuts when someone is quoting the content of a Tweet in their piece and then immediately afterwards includes an image of the Tweet with the same content. Examples: (please understand I’m not calling anyone out; I just want to illustrate the problem)
While there are certainly many more important things going on, I find this very disruptive to my reading, a waste of space/time and, perhaps, even bandwidth if carried to extremes (every byte adds up).
I would love to see Twitter disappear completely for unrelated but obvious reasons. Notwithstanding that, how about including the text of the tweet or the image but not both? Please.
