I seldom ever, Christ, almost never, post a diary on Daily Kos. I’ll comment from time to time and read the posts almost every day, but that’s about it. Yes, I contribute. Yes, I knock on doors. Yes, I make phone calls. Whatever I can do to help. However, an author I am not. With that, I have an issue with the political cordiality and respect that past Presidents have bestowed upon their successors. That is, they tend to remain silent on the policies that the new administration implements. Granted, something so egregious, like the entirety of Drumpf’s policies so far, might be cause for a former President to speak about it in public, but for the most part, civility by the former Presidents tends to be preferred course of action.
This post, though, isn’t going in the direction you’re thinking. I don’t expect President Obama to take it upon himself to start bashing the tangerine man at every turn. No. I heard somewhere than when they go low, we go high. Sound advice, for sure. Where I’m going with this is when we can finally remove pee-pee boy from office, through impeachment (please) or through the election process, can we expect the buffoon to follow the tradition of the previous Presidents? Will he refrain from twitting, on a daily basis, his disdain for his successor to his base? Will he respect the role of government to allow new policies to be implemented, without his interference? Will he blow a gasket when his policies are overturned at the same rate as President Obama’s are today? My opinion? Gaskets will be blown, for sure.
President Obama faced literally eight years of obstruction from the right. I would expect that obstruction to continue with the next Democratic administration. Compound that obstruction with the Mad Twitter spitting his bile from the sidelines, via his twitter barrages. Add in Britbart, Dredge, The Blaze and of course, Fox News. Drumpf will be the star of the talk show circuit, criticizing anything that is said or done by the new administration.
What recourse do we have to prevent this from happening, aside from him choking on a Big Mac? The future of this country lies in his stubby little fingers and his twitter account. Be damned what damage his actions may cause. Unfortunately, I think our next Democratic president may be in for a tougher road to success than President Obama had, if that is even fathomable.
