Why the constant accusations against supporters of Bernie Sanders that “they are not real democrats?” Why the cheers of joy every time a republican dumps the GOP because of Donald Trump, and confesses this on Dkos, when they still proudly support George W Bush, John McCain and Ronald Reagan? Also why aren’t supporters of Michael Bloomberg, like Ed Rendell accused of being closet Unity party members.
Edward G. Rendell, the former governor of Pennsylvania and a past Democratic National Committee chairman, said he believed Mr. Bloomberg could compete in the race if activist candidates on the left and right prevailed in the party primaries.
“Mike Bloomberg for president rests on the not-impossible but somewhat unlikely circumstance of either Donald Trump or Ted Cruz versus Bernie Sanders,” said Mr. Rendell, a close ally of Mrs. Clinton’s who is also a friend of Mr. Bloomberg’s. “If Hillary wins the nomination, Hillary is mainstream enough that Mike would have no chance, and Mike’s not going to go on a suicide mission.”
In a three-way race featuring Mr. Sanders and Mr. Bloomberg, Mr. Rendell said he might back the former New York mayor.
“As a lifelong Democrat, as a former party chairman, it would be very hard for me to do that,” he said. “But I would certainly take a look at it — absolutely.”
Believe or not, there is no such thing as a natural democrat. The Democratic Party has changed over time. Many of Hillary’s people are ex-republicans. Hillary herself is a former “Goldwater Girl.” I suspect many greens and independents were Democrats before the Democrats were taken over by neoliberal ex-gop, like Hillary.
I think this is dangerous manipulation of our party. I do believe Hillary’s foreign policy debacles, are an attempt to attract more neocons to the party! Robert Kagan himself has endorsed Clinton. Robert Kagan along with former George Bush chief of staffer, Bill Kristol were founders of the notorious PNAC. According to sourcewatch.
According to William Rivers Pitt, "Two events brought PNAC into the mainstream of American government: the disputed election of George W. Bush and the attacks of September 11th. When Bush assumed the Presidency, the men who created and nurtured the imperial dreams of PNAC became the men who run the Pentagon, the Defense Department and the White House. When the Towers came down, these men saw, at long last, their chance to turn their White Papers into substantive policy."[3].……..….
has been agitating since its inception for a war with Iraq. PNAC was the driving force behind the drafting and passage of the Iraqi Liberation Act, a bill that painted a veneer of legality over the ultimate designs behind such a conflict. The names of every prominent PNAC member were on a letter delivered to President Clinton in 1998 which castigated him for not implementing the Act by driving troops into Baghdad.
………….Most recently, PNAC created a new group called the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq. Staffed entirely by PNAC members, The Committee has set out to "educate" Americans via cable news connections about the need for war in Iraq. This group met recently with National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice regarding the ways and means of this education. ...
The Project for the New American Century seeks to establish what they call 'Pax Americana' across the globe. Essentially, their goal is to transform America, the sole remaining superpower, into a planetary empire by force of arms. A report released by PNAC in September of 2000 entitled 'Rebuilding America's Defenses' codifies this plan, which requires a massive increase in defense spending and the fighting of several major theater wars in order to establish American dominance. The first has been achieved in Bush's new budget plan, which calls for the exact dollar amount to be spent on defense that was requested by PNAC in 2000. Arrangements are underway for the fighting of the wars.[4]
With Hillary’s encouragement, Obama hired Robert Kagan’s wife, Victoria Nuland to work for her in the state department. Nuland, being a dogmatic neocon herself went on to create much trouble with Nato and the Ukraine.
Carl Gershman, the neocon president of the U.S.-taxpayer-funded National Endowment for Democracy, explained the plan in a Post op-ed on Sept. 26, 2013. Gershman called Ukraine “the biggest prize†and an important interim step toward toppling Putin, who “may find himself on the losing end not just in the near abroad but within Russia itself.â€
For her part, Nuland passed out cookies to anti-Yanukovych demonstrators at the Maidan square, reminded Ukrainian business leaders that the U.S. had invested $5 billion in their “European aspirations,†declared “fuck the EU†for its less aggressive approach, and discussed with U.S. Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt who the new leaders of Ukraine should be. “Yats is the guy,†she said, referring to Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
Nuland saw her big chance on Feb. 20, 2014, when a mysterious sniper – apparently firing from a building controlled by the Right Sektor – shot and killed both police and protesters, escalating the crisis. On Feb. 21, in a desperate bid to avert more violence, Yanukovych agreed to a European-guaranteed plan in which he accepted reduced powers and called for early elections so he could be voted out of office.
But that wasn’t enough for the anti-Yanukovych forces who – led by Right Sektor and neo-Nazi militias – overran government buildings on Feb. 22, forcing Yanukovych and many of his officials to flee for their lives. With armed thugs patrolling the corridors of power, the final path to “regime change†was clear.
Do you want the people who started the Iraq war to be democrats in good standing, over the progressives that opposed it? If we do? Why? This McCarthyism against the supporters of Bernie Sanders is dangerous to the party in many ways. One your basically saying you don’t want progressive votes unless they are Democrats. Nobody wins elections with just old party members. Two, you eliminating people who opposed the Iraq war in favor of the stupid shits that started it.
