I’m on the Trump campaign’s email list, just so I can keep tabs on what line they’re taking. Their latest missive invited me to attend Trump’s big Make America Great Again! rally in Tulsa on June 19th — Juneteenth, of course. All I have to do is register online for two free tickets and promise not to bring any homemade signs or large bags into the arena and I’ll be welcome to join in Making American Great Again. (Not sure why we still need to Make America Great Again! three and a half years into the Trump regime, but life has its little mysteries.) There is so very much wrong about all of this, but the touch I loved was came at the bottom of the registration form:
“By clicking register below, you are acknowledging that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. By attending the Rally, you and any guests voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.; BOK Center; ASM Global; or any of their affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, or volunteers liable for any illness or injury.”
In the words of Donald J. Trump, “I don’t take responsibility at all.”
It’s enough to make you sick. Well, to make us all sick.
