As the 5th Congressional District Representative, Cathy McMorris Rodgers (McMoRo) has now been in office for eight consecutive years. She is the most powerful Republican woman in the U.S. House of Representatives because she is a docile and obedient servant to the puppet masters who yank the chains of the Republican Party. Now that you know where I stand, check out our site on Cathy McMorris Rodgers voting record. She continually votes against programs for the middle class and the impoverished to pay for tax loop holes for corporate America (e.g, handing out entitlements to the rich) to keep campaign contributions rolling in. For more on Cathy McMorris Rodgers see this site.
When Cathy McMorris Rodgers was scheduled to debate her opponent in 2012, she did not even have the courage to show up and face her constituents.
Eastern Washington Voters is proud to support the Move to Amend movement as their website demonstrates. Corporations are not people! It will be difficult to make progress on many important issues such as reducing greenhouse gases, passing single payer healthcare, and passing large cuts in the defense budget unless average citizens are given more power relative to Corporate America.
Retired Major General Smedley D. Butler of the U.S. Marine Core (July 30, 1881 – June 21, 1940) has been one of the many retired U.S. military officers to be critical of how our country uses its armed services overseas.
In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. . . . War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. . . It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives. . . Out of war a few people make huge fortunes. So, I say, To hell with war! --Wikipedia
However, what makes him unique is that he was probably the first to do so very publicly and devote most of the later years of his life to trying to reform our foreign policy. He was also the most decorated Marine in the history of our country at the peak of popularity as a reformer and brutally honest about what he felt.
General Smedley Butler portrayed
To the right is actor Bart Haggin's portrayal of General Smedley Butler. Please re-post and provide a link in credit to either EWPolitics.org or Eastern Washington Voters for the video. Below is an approximate transcript.
We got an interesting question for ourselves in Eastern Washington. Will conservative Spokane Valley voters cast their ballot for the re-election of wife abusing, gun pulling Republican State Representative Matt Shea, or will they vote for moderate Democrat Amy Biviano who is a mother of two and works as a CPA?
If Matt Shea's mistreatment of women doesn't get him booted out of office, perhaps his firearm's violations will. "Lawbreakers should not be lawmakers."
"She said [Matt] Shea insisted she walk on his left side because his sword, if he had one, would be on his right side."
"A Spokane Valley legislator [Republican Matt Shea] pulled a gun during a confrontation with another motorist last November in what police reports describe as a road rage incident. He [Republican Matt Shea] was cited for two violations of state firearms law." --Spokesman Review, July 22, 2012.
What do you get when a tobacco lobbyist decides to run for county commissioner? A corruption-laced Dukes of Hazard style politician. That is what we have in Spokane County with Todd Mielke. In 1995 RepublicanTodd Mielke resigned from the Washington State Legislature to become a high paid lobbyist for big pharmacuetical companies and the tobacco industry. A few years later he ran for Spokane County Commission. Read more about Todd Mielke at this site.
For Jay Inslee, candidate for Washington Governor, jobs are the highest priority. We have seen him “walk the talk” for years. As a Congressman, Jay Inslee voted for and helped pass the 2009 Stimulus Bill. The Act has helped to create Liberty Lake jobs and boost Washington employment in general. Liberty Lake is a perfect example of the Stimulus Act at work.
Congressman Jay Inslee, and candidate for Washington Governor, asks us to strengthen our support for clean, renewable energy. Americans want clean energy. They know that it will be an engine to create good paying jobs for the Working Class in the state of Washington and elsewhere in the country, and they are willing to make an upfront investment into it for the generation of employment and clean energy for the future.
As working class people, we support Jay Inslee for Washington Governor because he grew up one of us. You cannot help the working class, unless you understand the working class.
Jay knows what it is like to earn a day’s pay doing hard work. He learned that from his working class parents. His father was a teacher and his mother was a sales clerk at Sears and Roebuck. As a young man, Jay ran a jackhammer in Seattle.
The Republican Party seems to have high hopes for Cathy McMorris Rodgers. When John Boehner makes statements to the press, she is typically standing behind him, and the woman is quickly advancing into Republican leadership in the U.S. House. She has also been building her own political machine and installing her staff into their own positions of power.
In conservative eastern Washington, Spokane is turning Democratic if not downright progressive. They already have control of two legislative districts in Spokane, and are poised to gain in a majority on the County Commission.
Farmers, environmentalists, and other uncommon coalition partners have joined together to defeat I-933 in the state of Washington and similar initiatives in the West. I-933 is a costly scheme that would force communities to choose between paying millions of dollars to special interests to obey basic city zoning ordinances and environmental and smart growth laws, or to waive these laws. A similar initiative passed in Oregon in 2004 and so far there have been about $5 billion dollars in claims filed against taxpayers there. These types of initiatives are now being run in five other western states in 2006. However, in the state of Washington and elsewhere, a strong, extremely diverse coalition has emerged to stop the latest hijacking of the initiative process by right-wing extremists. The crop art is below the fold.
