What the hell does the GOP stand for anymore other than “we’re not Obama”? No kidding. He’s more competent.

You all suck. A lot of you wouldn't know what a progressive thought was if it bit you in the ass. To you, a progressive thought is whatever the Democratic party line spoonfeeds you. A tremendous amount of you are Democrats because mommy and daddy were Democrats. Churches and political parties are full of blind conformists that are simply towing the line they've been told to from the get go, with little regard to actual political thought, let alone progressive political thought. The amount of blind conformity that goes on in America is what fuels the corrupt two party system. DailyKos exemplifies blind conformity, and I regret any and all association I have had with it.

Former Wasilla mayor and Alaska governor Sarah Palin has a career filled with high profile endorsements and speeches, including a musical number in which she advocates for cross-dressing in the commercial timber industry.

In 1969, long before entering into local politics, young Sarah Palin worked in the entertainment media business doing sketch comedy, perhaps foreshadowing her modern post-political improvisational career.  A sample of her work, which stands in stark constrast to the conservative positions she espouses today, is given below.

More on this story below the fold.

Oh, what dark times have befallen the great orange satan.  Provocative writing! Petulant rants! Hyperbolic rhetoric! Absurd metaphors! There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts!

Too much has happened to start the discussion above the kossant... let's consider the evidence in theresmoresville.

What is dailykos?  Of course, it's News·Community·Action.  With many more readers than commenters and diarists, the site must be widely viewed as a news and information source. Many of us consider it a community... we share jokes and LOLs, help each other out, and so forth.  However we participants view it, though, the site is owned by the privately held limited liability company Kos Media LLC.

In the waning days of 2011, a number of kossacks (a big shout out to Onomastic) responded to kos's call for subscriptions, in which kos sunsetted the lifetime subscription and received a deluge of subscriptions through a gifting rampage of epic proportions:

2,651 -- total new subscriptions. My secret goal had been 1,000
624 -- gift subscriptions
423 -- gift subscriptions that were anonymous, so over 2/3rds.
70 -- gift subscriptions from Nurse Kelley's small donor drive
45 -- The number of individuals who purchased three or more gift subscriptions

This year, the gift-subscription drive has morphed into a donation/gift-subscription drive.  Prominently displayed on the front page is

Subscribe or Donate now
Help us fundraise for progressive causes and candidates, fight back against the conservative agenda, and strengthen our community. After all, this year's War on Christmas won't fund itself!
So, with this roundabout buildup, my question is the following.  Does a for-profit corporate entity like Kos Media LLC that requests donations from its participants have an obligation to provide some level of accounting transparency?

What level of scrunity should we be allowed into dailykos' finances?

Done for now? I'm overdone.

or, a whitebread redneck majority-dailykos-demographic dude tries to become a sistah.  I'm taking the week off in support of the BK walk out.

Like my bud Julie Gulden, I would strongly suggest you read sberel's post and blue jersey mom's post, along the the threads therein.

Every time I go back to TN, I listen to and argue with the subtle and no-so-subtle racist attitudes towards President Obama, much of it from my own dadgum family.  Burns my butt worse than a three-foot flame.  Much as I love hanging out here, I can't take it here too.

There'sMoreVille contains some typical bubbanomics-type bitching-and-moaning about moderation.

I want moderation on this farce of a website. I thought this was a forum for getting more and better Democrats elected. Instead, it is little more than a pie-flinging, name-calling, soul-crushing, sophomoric bitchfest. Now that we need moderation, a liberal would recognize the importance of good and effective governance and step up. Instead, DailyKos will provide no such option. Like some sort of tea party, I was welcomed in freely but am subjected to insane ranting toward no useful purpose. I do not want to simply leave and let the middle school cliques win.  I am disgusted by what is happening. Kos has no interest in moderating the site, and that is unacceptable.

If you run a website, you need to follow these steps. if you don't, you're making the web, and the world, a worse place. And it's your fault. Put another way, take some goddamn responsibility for what you unleash on the world.
