Variety is reporting that CBS will announce the cancellation of Jericho, the network's primetime post-apocalyptic drama. Jericho was one of the few shows I invested any time in watching, and this news is quite upsetting. For those unfamiliar with the show, I'll refer you to the Wikipedia entry.
The story of Jericho revolved around the effects of a massive nuclear terrorist attack on a small Kansas town. Most major cities in the U.S. were destroyed by small nuclear weapons, in a plot possibly engineered by officials in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Aside from the small town drama, the show delved into issues of military contractors and the influence of the military-industrial complex.
If CBS cancels the show, it will not only be dropping one of the few dramas with a continuing storyline, but it will also be dropping a show that discusses a real problem in American government.
