My sister lives in Tennessee, and is a strong Democrat. Having lived there for over a year, she registered to vote as she was suppose to, and received this letter back:
If you look closely, my sister’s registration was denied because she forgot to mark what sex she is on her registration application. This begs the question, of what difference does it make? None. But in Tennessee, how many people get rejected because of this?
Also notice the highlighted part on the bottom. When my sister received this notice, it was already past the due date to send back via mail. Her only option is to drive to the county court house in Knoxville and deliver the notice in person. Thankfully she lives in Knoxville, has the time and transportation to do it. Think of how many people don’t have the ability or time to do this?
This is voter suppression and it can happen to anyone. We need to get out and vote and put a stop to it!
