John king is dumb

by elite user

I saw him on CNN giving his analysis. He wondered if now Obama will stop being so left-wing, if he would stop ignoring the republicans and start scaling back his agenda

in reality, obama and the democrats in congress have comprimised to no end, and obama has been too nice and consiliatory. If anything i hope the democrats become more bold and actually start to metaphorically tell the republicans to go %^$#%^# them selves

2 bill solution

by elite user

As you know, the president could probably use reconcilation to get the public option passed in the senate and we can already get just enough blue dog democrats in the house to pass the public option but because of the procedural stipulations of the reconcilation method, there would be no laws against dropping people with pre-existing conditions and must of the important health care reforms. Plus, if the president "rams it through" (as the republicans would say) first, then we wont get any of the reforms with the public option.

What the president can do is concede the public option but get alot in return in terms of every other health care reform, and then , ram though the reconcilation vote of just a public option. He should not tell anyone right away though, and since u only need 50 votes and the public option wouldn't start until 2013 anywyas, he could wait a few months and then push it through

What method should the president use?

I'm sorry that this isnt' a diary that follows the layed out criteria, but I feel that since the public option looks like it wont be happening i want to suggest a very easy solution.

Each state's legislature pass their own "public option" for everyone in their state.

You won't have to worry about moderate blue dog democrats and republicans. It would be FAR easier.

Everyone in a state gets access to government health care, everyone in that state pays taxes to cover it, and only people living in that state get to use it.

That way you could get REAL reform and have real liberal ideals entrenched in the bill

Why are americans so confused.

by elite user

Everyone channel I watch they keep saying how Americans are so confused. What are they confused about? There is so much misinformation but why are people even falling for this crap in the first place. IF it is true that most americans are for health care reform and do "get it" why do all the major news organizations always talk about how "the people are confused" i heard the word confused so much it is sickening. "OMG it's complicated, OMG it's confusing, OMG evil hitler/obama is going to kill your granma" "i have health care already, so this wont help me at all"
" I'm afraid of losing my doctor"  HOLY CRAP And these arn't just form MCcain voters, These are from OBAMA VOTERS.

We all know about all the police officers and regular civilians that have died because some nutjob conservative thinks Obama is personally going to take away their guns so they go on a killing spree. More people have died from that then Americans killed by swine flu by the way. Now doctors are being assassinated by other nut job conservatives.

will progress ever be made until both parties actually start telling their own voters when they are wrong on certain issues?

Gary Locke Likely Commerce Secretary

by elite user

I saw this on CNN and FOX News so and I was wondering if this is a good pick.

President Barack Obama's likely third pick for US commerce secretary is former state of Washington governor Gary Locke, a senior administration official said today.

Locke was the first Chinese-American US governor when he served two terms in the Washington statehouse from 1997 to 2005.

He argues that global engagement is a way to improve China's human rights record and deal with piracy of intellectual property...
