Dems Come Up Short.
The ball was dropped.
When I showed up to vote Tuesday afternoon, I figured we had lost. The polling place was almost empty, except for a few solidly GOP looking folks.
Other than a single post card I did not hear anything about this race from the Democratic Party side. I got one postcard from Triebsch and a call from the GOP, which was the only reason I knew this election was on a different day from Ossoff’s race. (The GOP calls me because because I once voted in a primary to primary a county commissioner who was trying to ban cycling on my road.)
Triebsch got the highest vote count in the first go round. She raised $5000 and had to take out a loan for an additional $5000. It is like we had a chance, but nobody wanted to fight.
If we cannot turn out the vote, or raise money, for down ticket candidates, the GOP will always be setting the rules to make the playing field favor them.
