The current election seems to boil down to the question of whether the MSM has learned from the lessons of how the IRAQ war began. We now know that passes by the MSM given to GWB on his path to election only allowed him to achieve the power needed to lie a country into war, among other irresponsible acts. Here, the MSM failed to expose Bush for the fraud he was until it was too late.
As an American citizen, and one who regularly traveled to and stayed in Israel, I was aware before 911 of the very real and horrible threat of terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah. Therefore, I was inclined to trust our intelligence community on security issues despite being a liberal democrat who voted for Al Gore and distrusted GWB. So when the discussion on invading Iraq took place, I tended to trust the intelligence and so was inclined to be supportive of the Iraq invasion.
Soon after the war began, we all discovered what we should had known all along - you simply cannot trust the the Bush administration. And that the MSM failed the American people by not better informing us on the character of GWB and for not calling out the fear mongering and lies that were used to coerce a nation into war. Clearly, we did not have the complete picture at the time, but the MSM could have done better. Perhaps we simply had to live through it to learn the lesson in this age.
A decade later, history is repeating itself. It really could not be any more obvious to anyone who is closely and honestly following this campaign and recent events. If the MSM does not call out the Rmoney campaign and the GOP on its obvious lies, they will have failed the American people again. There is NO excuse now.
"I can't stand it, I know you planned it
I'm gonna set it straight, this Watergate
I can't stand rocking when I'm in here
'Cause your crystal ball ain't so crystal clear
So while you sit back and wonder why
I got this fucking thorn in my side
Oh my God, it's a mirage I'm tellin' y'all,
it's a sabotage" -- Beastie Boys
