Wow, what a day! Now we know why all the problems about the war & this administration. It's the media's fault!
Cheney says the contradictions that stem from Saddam's link to Al-Qaida are due to "lazy" reportage! Well, I agree! Let's not have anymore lazy reporting! Balls to the walls, all you journalists, let 'em have it, and stop being so frickin' lazy.
But seriously folks, the number of conflicting statements uttered in just one interview by Smirky yesterday, it's too astounding for a sane person to fathom. Is it possible he's got three sides to his mouth?
"We don't know",
"We have never been able to prove that there was a connection",
"the evidence is overwhelming",
"There has been enormous confusion",
"The press is .... lazy ... (and) often reports what someone else in the press says without doing their homework."
Meanwhile!, Rummy blames the outrage over torture committed by U.S. forces at Abu Grhaib on "the press". (credit: TPM guest blogger Spencer Ackerman)
Thus quothe the SecDef: "... someone who doesn't think they're in a war or aren't in a war, sitting in an air-conditioned room someplace can decide they want to be critical of this or critical of that, or misstate that or misrepresent something else, or be fast and loose with the facts*. But there's an effect to that, and I think we have to be careful. I think people ought to be accountable for that, just as we're accountable."
And!
, 'The Cabal' has enlisted Putin's help in spinning the Saddam-9/11 story. ("What's that you say? Saddam was planning to attack us pre- & post-9/11? And the Russians warned us?? Oh, We should tell everybody about that, before too much more time goes by!!)
And it's just too much to add MonkeyBoy's comments from yesterday, or why he was trying to spin a defense for Cheney's comments prior to that....
JEEBUS KRISCO!!! I think the whole idea is to just whomp the press over the head so hard with so many lies, there's not time enough to do anything about it all!
