This is my first ever blog of any kind, so please don't be too harsh with me.
That being said, the question of "What happened to our generation?" needs to be asked.
I'm 53 years old, so missed MLK, and was barely old enough to feel the pain of Bobby's assassination. I DID march with Cesar Chavez in the San Francisco Bay Area where I was born. OUR Generation moved mountains. WE pushed through Equal Rights. WE made damned sure that the UFW happened. WE pushed through a womans right to choose. WE stopped a needless war that cost us the cream of the crop of a generation. WE pushed through so many positive changes in our society.
Then we stopped. WHY? I look at where we were, where we were headed and where we are now and I scratch my head thinking of the momentum WE wasted.
I look towards the future and wonder what could have been. I see what's happening in Wisconsin and regardless of the outcome of the recall effort I actually feel some hope. I then find myself wondering if I'm fooling myself, though I pray that WE are finally waking up from our slumber, and perhaps, WE may find our way to move forward again. But only if WE stop bickering amongst ourselves and work towards the common good of our party, regardless of our own pet peeves and pet projects.
I know I'm just asking questions, and am not providing answers. But I don't claim to have all the answers, it's my hope that these questions can be answered by YOU who want BETTER for our Nation and our People.
