Yep, that's right. After all I've donated for "change" in Washington, and all the pavement I've pounded while canvassing, and all the volunteer tables I've worked at, and all the phonebanking I've done, I'm expected to chip in $25 more for health care "reform" with no public option.
Is that right, President Obama?
Well, fuck that.
Here was my reply to his email with the subject line "Power":
Mitch:
Sorry, but if the president does indeed plan to "stare down the left" and throw out the public option, then he needs to ask his better friends on the right (that he's trying so hard to to court) for THEIR money and THEIR volunteer time from now on. If he's going to be spineless and enact bad policy in the name of "reform," then I'm done.
Actually, I'm NOT done. I will be at rallies, shouting for true reform. I will be at the march in Washington on Sept. 13. But if Obama and the rest of the weak-kneed, lily-livered Democrats continue to break promises and lick the boots of big business, banks, war contractors and insurance companies, I will be one of those millions next year and three years from now, looking for alternatives to a Democratic Party that just doesn't work.
