Here is the extremely misleading headline they ran with.
"Allen labels Webb writing 'demeaning to women'; Webb cries foul"
They ran this headline knowing full well many people will only read or see the headline. Under the social norms we live under, violence against women in works of art, such as movies, plays, books, are not assumed to be incriminating of the author, unless it glorifies violence against women. This headline gives no indication that it is a work of FICTION. 99 percent of people seeing that headline will have no idea that the demeaning remarks he made were in a work of fiction, they will assume they were made in a non fiction book.
If they do decide this attack by the Allen campaign is newsworthy, they must put the Headline under the proper context.
This sensational headline by the AP is disgusting.
* This is not meant to be an attack on the writer of the article, who I believe did a good job writing the article. Whoever made up the headline should be fired.
