Well, you can lump me into the group of so called leftists who think that the US is really, really close to becoming a flat out fascist entity.

That's just relatively speaking, relative to our history. The move by George Bush, as documented below in an article by Jason Leopold, to strongly influence the outcome of a presidential election, makes me physically ill. It might not work, but man, this is some broad daylight fascist nonsense.

Maybe I am wrong. I probably am overreacting. I am just glad that this election is out of reach for McCain and the Republican theft machine. I am really glad that Obama's landslide cannot be COMPLETELY stolen.

Taking a look at today's RCP electoral map one sees that Ohio has gone into the "Leans Obama" category, and RCP has granted Obama  303 EVs without tossups added.

Just two days after McCain's "going all in in Pennsylvania" went into effect, the wind has left the sails of his Ohio efforts.

I expected this. McCain has very little mojo at this point. So his latest Mavericky move has failed and failed quickly. He doesn't have time to reallocate resources to save Ohio, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina and simultaneously get a mystical win in Pennsylvania.

Because we won't lose...

by rhodeislanddemocrat

Because we won't lose in the voting booths
and we won't lose on t.v.
because we have everything to gain from election day
no one's voting for McCain's VP

Because White America has prisons and policemen ready
And rumors are starting to spread
About how blacks and liberals are gonna get real upset
How this elections gonna go to their heads

Because we now have advance notice
That Republicans really mean business.
That chaos is the plan, their path to victory
What does this mean for us?

Well, the socialist angle seems to be the McCain campaign's last best hope for trimming some of Obama's leads in national and state polls. I think it would be a bad idea for the Democratic party to run away from the issue. So far the Obama campaign has been pretty good at pushing back against the slime tactics of McCain and company. I think he needs an assist from the broader Democratic party on this one.

I am not a socialist.  But I do get pissed off when American  politicians lie about the basics of the economic structure of the US to preserve and increase economic inequality.

Apparently Democrats have no problem watching Obama getting labeled as a socialist in primetime. Why is this? Why is the Democratic "voice" so feeble in contrast to even a failing and flailing Republican "voice"?

I don't really know. But I wish someone would have the nads to come out and say, "Hey, twenty percent of the American population owns eighty percent of the wealth." Just get that basic fact out there for starters.

Yesterday's Supreme Court ruling in favor of Ohio Secretary of State, Jennifer Brunner, takes Ohio out of the "easy for Republicans to steal in spite of a Democratic S.o.S." category. McCain/Palin have to compete in Ohio, have to spend money there, every day, until Nov. 4, just to keep it close.

The same is true of Florida and Virginia. Although I am sure there are "contingencies in place in Florida" Republicans will still have to fight there every day to keep it close enough to steal. And then there is Virginia, which is now  a firewall for Obama, who CAN afford to lose both Ohio and Florida and still win this thing with Virginia and Iowa plus Kerry states.

Below is an article from Huffington Post per: Ohio/Acorn/BS.

I think this is a HUGE development for several reasons. Brunner fighting the GOP and GOP Circuit Court is encouraging to the Obama ground operation.

The fact that Brunner will take this as far as possible even up to the Supreme Court means that no Bullshit Backroom decision will be rendered.

Secretary of State Brunner is putting herself on the line here. Or maybe this is just what a Democrat with a spine looks like.

We need to know that Democrats will stand up to the Rovian tactics TODAY. Not at some convenient point in the near future.

Mom is a retired secretary. She reads the front page of the newspaper every day. It's her morning ritual. She does not talk to friends or family about politics. Ever. But this year has been different.

Mom's usual comment about politicians is: "They are all corrupt." So why bother? This year she has observed my avid participation and engagement in this Presidential race. She has gone from "I'm not sure Americans will vote for a Black Man" to "You can't steal a landslide."

Mom has made her first donation to a political candidate EVER. Barack Obama (and Michelle Obama) have reached her. To the tune of $100.00.

She is very polite with her Republican friends. "We shouldn't discuss politics at dinner time." She's not in anybody's face about this. But she is passionate. And once she is on board you can expect more good things from her. I am so pleased to see this, what amounts to a mind opening experience for her, that maybe good can come from a politcian.

It's Over...w/poll

by rhodeislanddemocrat

Every day for the past nine months I have hit the internet hard with the hopes of gathering information about Obama's probable victories and possible triumphs in the primary and presidential elections.

I have been working the numbers over and over on a daily basis and checking the trends, reading most relevant pundits and, of course, commenting and diarying at DKOS.

An interesting thing has happened in the past week. This thing has gotten out of reach for McCain. He cannot fabricate his way to a victory. There is nothing there for him.

Granted, McCain has a lock on Alabama and Alaska, but that's not gonna get it done.

Love em or hate em, you gotta give em credit. They know how to play this game of politics. Just as Obama's campaign has wrestled team McCain to the mat over the past month, President and Senator Clinton arrive in the spotlight to make sure McCain stays pinned.

The Republican party is not used to going down like this: so hard, so early. So they have all their dark forces at work and on display. Job one for the Republicans is to scare the shit out of the MSM. That will be much harder to do with Bill and Hillary on the scene.

Bill and Hillary will act as a media buffer for Obama and the MSM.

That's where we are at with Kerry states plus Iowa and Virgina. With an average of 6.3% lead in the state polls over the past two weeks, Obama has created a new map/reality for McCain to deal with (or not). MCain cannot win without Virginia.

McCain cannot even create the ILLUSION of a victory without Virginia, and that's important, because Republicans and the MSM are all about the pre-vote illusion.

Forget about Florida, Ohio, New Mexico, Colorodo, and Nevada. McCain's got a serious VIRGINIA problem. I don't think the McLame campaign has the horses to plug all these leaks in just three weeks.

Strangely, Obama has created a theft proof Electoral Victory. I am not worried or thinking about a landslide. I am too chastened by the reality of the Republican electoral theft machine.

Virginia is helping me to breathe deeply and get a good night's sleep. It's the state that is currently breaking McCain's back.

Wouldn't it be ironic if Obama's good numbers in Florida were able to bleed significant money and ground troops away from the McCain Hall of Shame Campaign?

The Florida polls of the past two weeks show that Obama has a lead in Florida above the 3% margin of error. Simply stated, this is something McCain has to deal with. It's a thorn in his already beleaguered ass.

The national numbers look good (between +8-10)for Obama, but there need to be clear narratives established at state levels in Battleground states to ward of the Republican theft machine.

I would venture to guess that Florida is keeping McCian's people up at night. I hope it stays that way.
