Riots in Huntington Beach, CA

by ridemybike

frightening and violent.... by white kids after a surfing competition:

Businesses were vandalized and looted, porta-potty's overturned, and brutal fistfights right out in the open

Gawker reported the travesty, here.

It's about time we start pointing out how some white kids are just as violent as some black kids.

Yo, GWB, FU!

by ridemybike

okay, a new presidential library and museum opened today
and the "rewrite" of history begins (again)

several former presidents were there, in addition to our current one
they all tried, as best as they could, to say something positive about gwb

but.... we.... us.... the american people, don't have to be nice about what we say
and i for one will NOT hold back.

so without further comment
i offer this:

Viva la France!

by ridemybike

French lawmakers legalized same-sex marriage on Tuesday in a 331-225 vote in the Socialist majority National Assembly.

France’s justice minister says the first weddings under the new legislation could be in June. Tuesday’s legalization comes after months of powerful protests against the bill which brought hundreds of thousands to Paris in mass marches.

France is the 14th country to legalize gay marriage.

Finally, to the French people and their government, merci beaucoup :-)

Four Betrayers!

by ridemybike

As you probably know by now, the Senate voted 54-46 to defeat a bipartisan amendment to expand background checks for gun purchases, effectively killing the bedrock of new gun control legislation that Democrats, notably the President, have been pushing since the horror at Newtown Elementary.

Despite overwhelming support for gun safety/control legislation, these four Democrats stood with the republicans to block democracy and the will of the people.

Mark Pryor of Arkansas
Max Baucus of Montana
Mark Begich of Alaska
Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota

What these four did was disgusting, shameful and reprehensible.
Perhaps it's time we take a page from the teabaggers and start threatening a primary.

I don't know about you, but I've had it.

Had we stood together, tonight's evening news might've sounded something like this:
"All 58 Democratic Senators voted in favor of background checks, while not a single republican voted in favor of the bill."

With across-the-board support on this legislation, the backlash would have been felt.
But we'll never know because, thanks to the four betrayers, opposition was "bi-partisan"

Shame on our country and on our party for allowing this.

I stand with the families of senseless gun violence.

from the Washington Post:

SUWANEE, Ga. — Four firefighters who responded to what seemed like a routine medical call were being held hostage Wednesday by a gunman who has barricaded himself in a home in suburban Atlanta, authorities said.

Five firefighters responded to the call in Suwanee and were eventually taken hostage by an unidentified suspect inside the house, Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Edwin Ritter said. The gunman released one of the firefighters to move a fire truck.

Authorities were not releasing information on what happened inside the home, but did say it doesn’t appear any of the firefighters has been hurt.

The gunman’s motive was unclear to police and fire officials, and a SWAT team and negotiator have made contact with the suspect.

Fire department Capt. Tommy Rutledge said the medical call seemed routine and firefighters did not believe there was any danger. One engine and one ambulance responded.

“Right now we just want our firefighters to be released. We want them to be able to go home safe to their families,” Rutledge told WSB-TV.

Television helicopter footage showed police and fire trucks surrounding the neighborhood of mostly two-story homes and well-kept lawns about 35 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta. Residents were not being allowed in to their neighborhood. About 50 bystanders gathered outside the subdivision while police and SWAT officials surrounded the house. According to public records, the home is in foreclosure and has been bank-owned since mid-November.

The firefighters are cross-trained as emergency medical technicians, said Rutledge, who would not speculate on whether there was a real emergency at the home.

“Our firefighters responded to a call they respond to hundreds of times, and that’s a medical emergency,” he said.

teach your children well

by ridemybike

If you haven't had a chance to see this, watch Sasha Obama tell her daddy
to turn around and wave to the people behind him.

When POTUS first came on stage with his beautiful family, the First Family, little Sasha nudged her dad, reminding him to, “look behind you,” she wanted to make sure the crowd behind them could get a wave or two from her dad.

Of course, to no one's surprise (not here, anyway), her daddy listened.

What does this say about a child?

Perhaps it's a metaphor for the whole thing: We're All In This Together!

This isn't rocket science my fellow democrats, nope, it's pretty straight forward actually.
Please repeat after me:

Michelle Bachmann Must Resign!!!

Seriously, think about it for 1.5 seconds
how would the republicans be acting had a democrat smeared, defamed and outright lied
about a rethug?

The calls for a head-on-a-plate would have started immediately.
The howls and shrieks for resignation would have been overflowing by now.

But where the hell are our people?
Why aren't we calling for this LOONY BIN to resign???

She has not only smeared and defamed an upstanding stellar public servant
Bachmann's blather has also caused DEATH THREATS to Huma Abedin.

Now, Huma needs a dedicated body guard.
All because of a right-wing LOON!

I say, ENOUGH!

BACHMANN MUST RESIGN!!!!!

Oh, I know, I think Ed Rendell mentioned it for a brief moment....
once maybe twice...

but that's not enough.

BACHMANN MUST RESIGN!!!!!

Are you with me?

bob152 says it perfectly:

in this case, she has committed treason. the fact that she routinely says ignorant, crazy, stupid things should not shield her from the fact that she has endangered americans and incited violence against them.
