Hello, it just Happened. The 11th circuit court has not accepted the appeal to
extend the stay on same sex marriage in Alabama. This is a huge moment in
history. I can't believe there is not a single diary on Kos about this giant moment
in time.

The small city I live by is offering a local farmers’ market every Thursday
through the summer. All the venders have to be located within a 50 mile radius
of the city. Unlike your typical downtown farmers’ market, the produce
is not trucked in from Florida, Texas, or even California. It is truly local.

This is the third year of the experiment of local farmers selling directly to the public. Honestly, it’s the most progressive and wonderful experiment the city has ever done. Thus the title of this rant, How I found My Bliss at the Farmers’ Market.

Hello Fellow Kossacks:

Today I am writing another personal diary. And I am making no bones about
it, this is a diary about a project I am working on, an original play about
the holocaust.  Next week is National Holocaust Remembrance Week. What
better way to honor this week by coming to see a new play written by a
new author who had a grandfather who survived the holocaust. Really,
folks this is going to be a grand experience for all who attend.

This is just the 2nd installment for this series I call: Come see this damn
play if you live any where close to Birmingham, Alabama. The tickets are only
$5 each, the high school is afraid to charge what the play is worth, which I think
is at least 20 bucks, but I can't do anything about that, just letting you know the
worth is greater than the price.  MUSELMANN1">

Hello from the deep south.

Yes, I am still alive and kicking in the fair state of Alabama. Wait did I just
feel a collective shiver, well yep I'm here, and yes Alabama has turned back
the clock to oh about 1950 something.

Our private family joke "Alabama would be so great, if it weren't for the people.
Akkkk!

Hello, fellow Kossacks. It seems the world is on fire. Change is coming in many
forms from many directions. From the streets of New York, to Tel Aviv. Young people
are hitting the streets, the future is here, and it comes in the form of our beautiful
children. Those that will be running the world soon.

Enough of my opinion, as the title promises a letter penned by my 20 something
son to the new governor of Alabama, Robert Bentley.

It's been months since I have written a diary on Daily Kos. The last time
was July 2010. I still come and read, and post a very occasional comment.
I know we are all having a pretty hard time these days, and here in Alabama
things are a pretty big mess right now. What with the super tornadoes and all
that has been going on, there isn't much I can add to the fray. You all have it
pretty well covered, and my opinion is not different from the chorus, so mostly
I just sit in the audience and listen.

But recently I had the most remarkable experience, with a dog, something
I never expected in my life, and thought it worthy enough, and interesting
enough to share with the Kos community. Hope you enjoy, and of
course be for warned this is a pootie diary about dogs,
and has nothing to do with world politics or world events.

Answer to What Are You Doing

by sharistuff

Hello Kos. It has been a while since I have written a diary. Much has
happened since the cold winter, and too short spring.

Now the world has changed. The Gulf of Mexico is being destroyed as
I type these words. I think about it every day. The beautiful dolphins
that I so admire. The precious sea turtles, so special and sweet. The
birds, all the birds, it breaks my heart.

My adult children worry the world is ending. They think about it
all the time. But then the only reassurance I can give them is the
world is always in a state of chaos. That man is a creature of war
and destruction. But man is also a creature of love and creation.

This is where I like to begin, with the good for once. Nothing that
will change the world. Or ruin it for that matter. But important
just the same.

Yes, I am in the tent business. Yes, I finally got a call about Haiti
relief and tent needs. A full month after the quake.

But it is not so easy to find that many tents, or meet the needs of
the client. But I am damn sure gonna try. Even if a person did a mark
up of ten dollars a tent, you would gross 2.5 million. But there is
a catch, of course there is, isn't there always a catch.

I'm not Goldman Sachs, so I can't just go poof and tents appear, nor
can I collect millions of dollars for nothing. We are talking real
life, about as real as it gets.

I admit it has been a while since I have read or contributed to Kos.
Usually a daily visitor, too much shit has gone on for me to have time
to blog or read blogs.

I know I am just one person with one small/tiny/microscopic company in
a backwards state (Alabama) but I see suffering all around me. Talk
of hitting bottom gives me serious doubts. I would wish it true of
course, but I fear it is not the facts.

I don't think we have hit bottom yet. The stock market numbers mean
nothing to most everyday people and their lives.  We get up, go to
work, or not. pay the bills, or not, eat, or not. I mean the choices
are becoming more narrow. It comes down to survival in the end. That
I know how to do. It is in my blood, comes down from generations of
survivors, for that I am most grateful. Now begins the ranting.
You are warned in advance the f bomb is one of my favorites, so
read on at your own peril.

What the Fuck is going on. Did we wake up, and Doc Brown from Back to
the Future, went into the future and fucked something up, then came back
to 2010 and here we are, totally fucked.

A spending freeze. WTF. Didn't President Obama deride John Mccain on this
very issue.  Scoffing at how bad a spending freeze would be for this country.

FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!

I am sitting at home on a Tuesday evening. The phone rings, my daughter
checks the caller ID, she's like "Hey, it's a 212 area code. It says
DNC on it."

Oh, goody, the DNC is calling me? That means only one thing. They want
money. I'm like, "Give me the phone, I am gonna give them an earful."
