Once again, we gather to pay our respects to one who has fallen while in service to our nation. Tonight we remember the life of an airman from California. He is the first casualty from Operation Inherent Resolve in the year 2015. Last year, there were three other sad deaths, reported by the Department of Defense, of those supporting that operation.

Oregonians Beware!

by SisTwo

Oregonians need to be aware. There is a race between Republican Kathy Goss and Democrat Paul Evans for House District 20. We just got a very sincere sounding letter sent to just the females in our family in support of Kathy Goss. It is a dirty trick!

Most of the content isn't too bad. It praises Goss to the skies, but then gives an unsupported statement that the Evans campaign spread lies about his opponent.

We are all disabled

by SisTwo

I was just barely 20 when we first went to see my husband's uncle, Charlie (not his real name). He lived in another state, so we didn't visit too often. However, when we did, it was always an event.

My husband's grandmother would open the door and Charlie would be sitting at the table, chain smoking. I'd give him a hug and say, "Hi, Uncle Charlie" and he'd say, "Hi Beautiful" with a big grin. You could tell he must have been a ladies man in his youth.

IGTNT - MIA

by SisTwo

When you have lost someone, it seems like all you have are anniversaries. The date of their death is a sad day. Their birthday becomes a somber day. It is the anniversary of their birth and reminds you that they are gone.

Unfortunately, when the loved one is MIA (missing in action), there is so much that is unknown. You are not always sure that the "presumed" date of death is correct, and often there is a feeling that maybe they are alive. With that small hope, there might be fear about how they are being treated if they still live. It is worrisome not to know.

IGTNT - One of the Last

by SisTwo

We spend another sad evening in mourning for a man who died far from home. Master Sergeant Aaron C. Torian was a highly-decorated Marine serving on his sixth overseas deployment. He had traveled twice to Iraq and three times to Afghanistan. The trip to Afghanistan was to be his last before he retired, and it would be the Marine Corps last deployment in that area. Plans are to have Marines pull out of the region when they are finished with the current mission.

Another sad time presents itself tonight as we gather to mourn five of our nation's finest who were lost while serving in the armed forces overseas. The first three are Special Forces soldiers who died during an apparent “insider attack” in the Paktia Province of Afghanistan on September 21st. The two sailors were lost in the Red Sea on September 22nd, when their MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter crashed shortly after landing on the guided-missile destroyer USS William P. Lawrence.

  • Staff Sergeant Liam J. Nevins who was from Colorado
  • Staff Sergeant Timothy R. McGill who was from New Jersey
  • Specialist Joshua J. Strickland who was from Georgia
  • Lieutenant Commander Landon L. Jones who was from California
