In early December I found out that the company I work for had been bought and my position is possibly going to be eliminated.
Last week I had the displeasure of letting my staff know that they are laid off- it wasn't that bad because they got ok severance's. I'm not in the initial wave of layoffs, so im not even going to get a package-- that sucks. They'll probably just keep me around for a few weeks/couple of months, than fire me without a severance: classy bunch.
I'm feeling pretty lucky, pretty blessed. I mean whats the first thing anyone would do when they find out they're losing their job?
It was around last February as the Democratic Primaries were heating up that for the first time I decided I was going to vote for a Democrat.
We were a house divided, I had chosen to support Barack and my Girlfriend has been a longtime Clinton supporter, I can tell you that there were many very tense times for 4 or 5 months in my house.
I had been at times in my life pretty passive about politics. I would vote based on what I thought to be true, I voted pro-life once or twice even(I have since outgrown that).
Late last night a letter was released regarding Sarah Palins health.
Tuning in to MSNBC today, im getting to watch Palin rally and now a McCain rally (the 2nd one today). Can we get some Democratic coverge please...
A couple of things of interest.
This is an ancient topic but I think for the first time in US History this presidential election has seen the influence that Consolidation of the media can have.
I think its an important conversation to have at this time.
I read that to help facilitate a merger between Chrysler and GM the US Govt is considering a loan of $10 Billion Dollars.
I fully support the Govt helping businesses when it makes sense.
BUT this situation bears some scrutiny.
Help her spend more quality time at home that is.
Since her opponent recently received over a million dollars, and her race is now a "tossup"
Lets see if we can help reach the tipping point.
I for one would like to send a very strong message to the GOP that the fundies and neocons are a vulgar assault on democracy. This divisive hate speech cannot continue without consequence.
I realize that its improbable.
Alaska voted for a Republican Governor, Sarah Palin, they were happy with their selection until now maybe?... is there buyers remorse?
There is something very very wrong about Fox"news"
It disturbs me that the GOP has decided to hold basically all of their interviews on this station for the rest of the campaign.
I dropped by their website today, below is a list of their latest news. Just a random day, and this is what they consider newsworthy
John McCain unveiled his economic "rescue" for homeowners at the debate last night.
The plan is on his website today so I thought we should discuss it.
Recently I have been noticing the GOP trying to cast blame at the democratic party for the housing meltdown reaching back to the Clinton years, saying it was pressure to lower standards by Fannie and Freddie which lead to the crisis.
I havent heard anyone talk about the Zero Down Payment introduced in 2004 by the administration, and the American Dream Down Payment Act of 2003.
Tonight the world will be treated to the
new season of the apprentice Charles Gibson Interview.
I feel it is important that the world gets to understand Sarah Palin and feel comfortable that she is qualified to be POTUS in about 6 months.
So many of the questions that I think Mr Gibson can ask. or Governor Palin can volunteer, that the world would like to know, revolve around foreign affairs. Specifically what her positions are on some current topics, and how she might engage certain real world circumstance. After all, that 3am phone call might really come.
