The value of Ustream.tv

by theRoaringGirl

Right now, PBS NEWSHOUR is streaming the hearing on the prisoner swap.
PBS NEWSHOUR

There was a moment of rancor, but the Committee Chair brought it quickly under control, and is now quite respectful.

Radiotherapy

by theRoaringGirl

I"m at the midway point in my cancer treatment - halfway through radiotherapy, and five months of herceptin infusions left. I have small radiation burns, and slightly red, itchy skin. and fatigue. Lord Morpheus, the fatigue! Some days are peppier than others, and then there are the days,  I hibernate: nap, wake, repeat.

On the bright side, I'll be through before NN14!

What's been going on with me?

by theRoaringGirl

Well, two weeks ago, I clipped all my hair off, after most of it was left ing my brush and comb over the previous 6 weeks. Yes, the hair loss was that fast for me, truthfully, it’s better than nausea. Other unpleasant effects over the last week has been the loss of appetite and a metallic taste. Tiredness is ever-present.

After this next course, I have three weeks of the taxol+herceptin course, which is followed by about six weeks of radiation+herceptin. THAT will be followed by simply the herceptin for the duration of chemo.

I've applied for SSDI/SSI as I am not working, even though I wanted to remain on the job(s), I was encouraged by both my family and one of my managers to take time for myself. I figured, I could take the opportunity to do some voice over work, and if any of you were at NN13 you saw my iPad rigs at the Netroots Radio table. While I was able to do quite of number of interviews and live broadcasting with two iPad minis, as my studio gear, mics, mixer, monitors may or may not be still at my old landlords in Jersey..

I have Chemotherapy

by theRoaringGirl

yes, chemotherapy. I had a lumpectomy two weeks ago, and although the cancerous spots were all removed, and the lymph nodes are clear, I have chemotherapy. I was diagnosed with HER2 Positive cancer, which means, even though the got it all, I have to undergo 5 years of chemotherapy, as it's a rather aggressive form of cancer. Non-genetically inherited, just over-active proteins on the outside of the cell that turn to mildew from mutation.

So, I have Chemotherapy, and not cancer.

My Pledge of Allegiance

by theRoaringGirl

Since the US Flag Code states:
§176. Respect for flag
No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.
(j) No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing.
and, therefore is in violation of worshipping "idols"
I began saying this for a few years now, and I thought I would share it with you:

F.E.A.R. AND LOATHING in the US Army.
http://chronicle.augusta.com/...

Prosecutors said the group called itself F.E.A.R., short for Forever Enduring Always Ready. Pauley said authorities don’t know how many members the militia had.
Burnett, 26, said he knew the group’s leaders from serving with them at Fort Stewart. He agreed to testify against Pvt. Isaac Aguigui, identified by prosecutors as the militia’s founder and leader, Sgt. Anthony Peden and Pvt. Christopher Salmon.

New Questions about Orly Taitz

by theRoaringGirl

Orly in her "O RLY?" fashion, has lashed out at the media. The traget this time? The Sac Bee. She wrote a Letter to the Editor complaining about... well, complaining. Same old media bias chazarai, when an interesting claim flew out of her head.
"...I was born in a shack, heated with a stove with wood and coal, where I considered myself being lucky to have running water.  I came to this country as an immigrant with only one suitcase in her hand and worked hard to attain most difficult professional licensure, developed businesses, built a not for profit foundation,.."

So, I sent her another email with new questions, wrote an article on newsvine, knowing she'll see it (x-posted it to my more "serious" wordpress blog just to make sure).

A Song for Rickie Poo

by theRoaringGirl

With the ever growing crassness of the Santorum campaign, I wrote this little song parody of the sea chanty, Reuben Ranzo.

The original story is about a New York tailor who has been shanghai'd (or "black balled") onto a whaler and what befalls him.

I'd record, but right now, my voice sux worse that usual
