The "Mayor of Realville" is living in the Twilight Zone. He says suspended Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston will get a standing ovation from all the students when he returns to play, for "pushing the envelope." According to Marchant.com, here is what Mr. Jameis did. He got up on a table in the middle of FSU's student union and yelled, "F*ck Her Right In The P*#%Y." This an internet meme, apparently, and not the first time Heisman Award winner Winston has been in trouble.  He faces allegations of rape, into which FSU recently reopened their investigation after the Department of Education accused them of ignoring the female student's Title IX rights. I hope no one told him when it comes to sexual consent, no can sometimes mean yes, "if you know how to spot it."

If Mr. Winston gets a standing ovation upon his return to play, (I hope) it will be for recognizing what he did was wrong and apologizing for it, something Mr. Limbaugh is loathe to do. Here is what Mr. Winston said at his press conference:

First of all I want to apologize to the university, to my coaches and to my teammates. I'm not a 'me' person but in that situation it was a selfish act and that's not how you do things around here. I really want to apologize to my teammates, because I've done a selfish act.
Mr. Limbaugh has a crisis manager onboard to help manage fallout from when in discussing a college's sexual consent policy for students, he said: “How many of you guys, in your own experience with women, have learned that no means yes if you know how to spot it?” He will have his hands full. Last night, he defended Mr. Limbaugh on Twitter, calling the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee liars with regard to their Petition to Advertisers to Drop Rush Limbaugh:  https://twitter.com/....

Rush Limbaugh is living in the past, and just can't stop himself. His "Vagina Justice Monologue," is another example of his deep disrespect for women. And advertisers agree it is despicable and abhorrent; over 3,000 have left and given us a statement they are redirecting ads, thank us for heads up often. Many others just quietly slip away. Fine with us, so long as they go! Remember when his show was chock full of blue chips?

HT to fellow DK'er Taffers, and as alway, many others!

No Mr. Limbaugh, ISIS ≠ Islam

by tkirkland

Some Limbaugh lies are worse than others. This one endangers American Muslims, against whom the FBI has already noted a high level of hate crimes. American Muslim leaders have repeatedly denounced ISIS, yet, on his show 9/11/14, Rush LImbaugh told listeners President Obama lied when he said that ISIS is not Islam:
He couldn't bring himself to tell the truth about ISIS. He had to lie and say they're not Islam and then he further said there isn't a single religion in the world that advocates, practices the killing of innocents. I mean, you talk about a howler. That's the kind of thing that gets the informed jumping up off their couches and really, really worried. (from rushlimbaugh.com)

I am more worried about who is listening to Rush Limbaugh when he spreads this lie. Muslim people are targeted here for harassment and worse, and others who are mistaken for them also suffer. In 2012, Wade M. Page shot six Sikh people at their temple in suburban Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Many believe the gunman confused the Sikhs with Muslims. Who told him it's not OK to be Muslim in the U.S.A., and who is listening to those voices now? Are they "jumping up off their couches, and really, really worried?" Of course, Rush Limbaugh is not alone in smearing Muslim people, nor is this his first time.

Rush Limbaugh has an achey breaky heart today. Clear Channel just flipped Limbaugh's WPGB in Pittsburgh to country music. It had fallen to 11th in Pittsburgh, echoing hate radio's plummeting popularity across the country. He got picked up by the smaller WJAS in Pittsburgh, owned by Radio Partners LLC, and 7,000 watts compared to WPGB's 15,000.  It is AM to boot, so likely suffers more from interference than the FM WPGB would. Pittsburgh is considered the 25th largest radio market in the U.S..

August is off to a bad start for Rush Limbaugh. Last week, he got dumped by one of his California stations, which flipped to a country music format, too, a switch the owner said was due to Stop Rush.  Earlier in the year, Mr. Limbaugh was demoted to smaller stations in L.A. and San Francisco as well, the 2nd and 4th largest markets in the country, respectively.

Mr. Limbaugh seems to be floating more fringe conspiracy theories and gross misogyny lately, perhaps in hope of maintaining the hard core listeners he has left. Today it was that the border crisis is a plot to "wrest control of this country from the white majority." That is worthy of a diary of its own; I hope someone will write one up. Last week, he hyped for two days what he called his "Vagina Justice Monologue."

Advertisers don't want to be associated with either one.  So, it's not a good long-term strategy, for him, or any of his stations.

On his show 7/23/14, Rush Limbaugh took time out from hating on gays, women, Black people, Latino people, Native American people, poor people, and Pope Francis (for reminding us of Jesus' teachings on caring for poor people), to shower some of his swill on Hiroshima and Nagasaki Memorials held around the world every August 6th to express hopes for peace, to express sorrow for the estimated 140,000 who died in the bombings, and those who later died a long and painful death from radiation poisoning.

I don't intend to resolve here the debate about whether another means of Allied victory was at hand, whether the numbers of dead, on either side, could make the decision a moral one, nor absolve the country of Japan of its actions during WWII.

However, after looking again at the pictures of the dead and disfigured, the obviously horrific suffering, I have no qualms about lighting a candle on August 6th to express my sorrow for them, as well as my own hopes for peace.  I do also honor those who fought for the U.S. and Allied Forces in WWII, including my own late father, who enlisted straight out of high school. Something Mr. Limbaugh was unable to do when he was called, given that easily repairable anal cyst and all.

On his show 6/10/14, Rush Limbaugh ignored the recent mass shootings, failed to note a good guy with pepper spray took down a bad guy with a gun, and instead spent a good portion of his show weaving together conspiracy theories that have President Obama plotting to seize Dittos' guns as well as orchestrating the influx of kids coming over the border in order to push for amnesty.

President Obama's true purpose for the Fast & Furious effort, Limbaugh insists, was to get a lot of innocent people shot so people would rise up and demand everybody who owns a gun be required to surrender it. He's been terrifying Dittos for years that Obama is coming for their guns. He then suggested President Obama is flooding the border with tens of thousands of "immigrant refugee" children in order to raise sympathy for amnesty, in a similar vein. Guess he doesn't call them "illegals" if they're kids. Audio here.

All they wanted was the news to be filled with stories about guns, easily obtained in American gun stores, getting into the hands of drug cartel thugs being used to shoot innocent people. The thought was that you would rise up in righteous indignation and demand instant brand-new gun control laws where everybody who had a gun would have to surrender it.

It backfired, didn't work. The truth was learned, and everything I told you became public knowledge. Well, I think it's possible the same type of scheme is in play here with these kids, these refugee kids. I think maybe the Regime is thinking along the same lines. It's possible. Just an idea. You flood the southwestern United States with tens of thousands of the essence of innocence: Young children.

By definition, not self-sufficient; by definition, totally dependent; by definition, without their parents. You create, hopefully, in the public mind an outcry of outrage and sympathy. "How could we allow this to happen? We must do amnesty!" It could well be they're thinking the same theoretical thoughts with this as they did with Fast and Furious. Found here, on Mr. Limbaugh's website.

He often says President Obama is like Hitler, and sometimes like Hitler/Stalin/Castro. Combine his extremist rhetoric with his reckless conspiracy theories and his shilling for the NRA (he called their lack of response in the immediate days after Sandy Hook "classy"), and it's no small wonder there are so many worked up and overarmed nut jobs out there. It is a strong reason to keep volunteering for #StopRush (and we are all volunteers, by the way, no matter what Mr. Limbaugh would like to think). I am inspired by my heroes at the Southern Poverty Law Center, who risk their lives fighting the kind of extremist hatred Mr. Limbaugh and his rhetoric fuel.  Naturally, Mr. Limbaugh often attacks the SPLC.

#StopRush Scores Big

by tkirkland

Filed from the field by hrhprissy, who is on assignment:

Sluts, prostitutes and militant feminazis everywhere rejoiced as Sandra Fluke crossed the finish line in the California Primary.  She and her troops will march on to the General Election this November.

Sandra Fluke
Sandra has continued to be a strong advocate for women’s rights ever since El Rushbo went on a 3-day rampage leveled directly at her two years ago.  Dittoheads tried to humiliate her by mailing her cash for condoms; she saved it for her first campaign.  Meanwhile, his market shrinks as we speak. She is celebrating her primary win and making plans for victory in November; he will be continuing his downward slide from the big voice of the Teapublicans into a teeny tiny whisper.

#StopRush has continued in force since the first of March 2012.  Day after day “the All-American First Cavalry Amazon Battalion” continues to contact businesses to let them know about the derogatory language they support when they buy ads on his show.   So far 3200 advertisers have put distance between themselves and misogyny, racism, and the demeaning of children and other living creatures.

One more battle in a series of wins chalked up to the good guys.  Dare to struggle, dare to win!

Rush Limbaugh was rambling around his show on Thursday, pining for a place for the U.S. to "project power" and good old American Exceptionalism. So what got the Cyst so inflamed?  President Obama's commencement speech to the cadets at West Point, which began with "You are the first class to graduate since 9/11 who may not be sent into combat in Iraq or Afghanistan," a remark that drew applause Limbaugh denied hearing.

And the things the president was proud about, obviously, I couldn't imagine the cadets or other military people who heard the speech being proud of. For example, early on -- very proudly, as though this is a serious achievement, a grand accomplishment -- he said, "You are the first graduating class that I will not be sending into battle!"
What really got our nation's premier chickenhawk going was this part of President Obama's speech:
But to say that we have an interest in pursuing peace and freedom beyond our borders is not to say that every problem has a military solution.  Since World War II, some of our most costly mistakes came not from our restraint, but from our willingness to rush into military adventures without thinking through the consequences -- without building international support and legitimacy for our action; without leveling with the American people about the sacrifices required.  Tough talk often draws headlines, but war rarely conforms to slogans.  As General Eisenhower, someone with hard-earned knowledge on this subject, said at this ceremony in 1947:  “War is mankind’s most tragic and stupid folly; to seek or advise its deliberate provocation is a black crime against all men.”
Limbaugh says he's not arguing for combat, but "projecting power," that those large forces and huge weapon systems should be a deterrent:
We've got the ability to project more power than the world has ever known, but it is apparent to everybody that we don't have the will to project that power.  In fact, to more and more people, it is apparent that projecting that power is not good.  It's almost immoral.
Exactly how Limbaugh thinks we should project this power, he leaves unsaid, despite having three hours in which to lay out details. Instead of sanctions and diplomacy, does he want a pose-down with a shirtless Putin over Crimea, massing our troops and weaponry nearby?  If that exercise escalated the conflict, would Mr. Limbaugh have a loved one in harm's way?  It seems unlikely.  If he owned that particular flag, he would wear it, and little else. He already talks about how he swells with pride when he just thinks about the military.  So much so that he wants to privatize all or part of the VA, even if veterans don't want it.

So if you have served our country in the military, Mr. Limbaugh will definitely stand up and salute, if his cyst isn't too inflamed, and unless you are female, a "phony soldier," LGBT, transgender, Muslim (From his transcript, linked: "Just like it's stunning that a Muslim can end up in the US Army and gun down everybody at an Army base.  How many of you are unable to really get your arms around that and understand that?")  Or one of the 900,000 veterans or 5,000 active duty troops who use food stamps, a program Limbaugh trashes.

Or John Kerry, who really did deserve and win a Purple Heart.
