The NH Senate race needs attention from us now!  It's already getting plenty of attention from Republicans.  With her unofficial but strong support from the National Committee, Former State AG Kelly Ayotte may jump ahead of Paul Hodes in early fund-raising totals. Ayotte is staffing up with classy picks such as campaign manager Brooks Kochvar, former Chief of Staff for Michelle Bachman who also worked for Randy "Duke" Cunningham as a staffer during the time Duke was up to his eyeballs in unethical activity.  Sen. Judd Gregg and former Gov. Craig Benson have opened up their rolodexes to the prospective Republican Senatorial candidate, working hard behind the scenes to advance her candidacy.

I spent the day watching CNN – President Obama at Fort Myers,  Ben Bernancke in front of a Congressional committee, and Tim Geithner in front of the Senate committee. Then I went on to all my favorite liberal blogs.  I'm astonished that so many people (like almost everyone) want to rush to judgment about the lack of a complete "plan," a full-blown solution to this complex and dangerous set of financial problems. What ever happened to judgment and patience?

First of all, let me say that I am finding this early period in the Obama presidency every bit as fascinating to follow and be a part of as I did the election.  In fact, it's more interesting because it's REAL STUFF .

Many of the blogs that I compulsively checked many times a day during the campaign have fallen to the bottom of my reading list, but Daily Kos has risen to the top because it the place where I not only can learn what's "really" going on from intelligent diarists, it is also the place where I find some clear vision on what to do to support Obama's agenda.  So for me, it's working better than the many group meetings that we have been invited to either host or attend by David Plouffe.

I just received an e-mail from WaPo reporter James Grimaldi pointing to his new exclusive on Verizon and At&T providing cell phone towers for the McCain Ranch.  I'll try to link to the article.

Is ACORN the new Ayers?

by virtual me

Evidently Lou Dobbs went off on ACORN this evening, and there seem to be many folks who are worried about this "shady" organization.  Even folks who aren't fans of the manic Dobbs are worrying about the organization and its ties to Obama.  These ties don't exist, according to the Obama website, and the "shadiness" of ACORN itself is an open question.

More on the Obama army

by virtual me

I've been reading 538's account of the difference between McCain and Obama offices, and I'll fill you in on what it looks like in our part of New Hampshire.

I've been canvassing each week for Obama, and yesterday the campaign sent us farther afield to a more rural area.  I write this to convey an image I will probably never forget, the shadow of a woman's face in a darkened room, blurred by the screen in her trailer door.  She is one of the people whose lives we're working to change, but she probably has no idea that government could ever help her.

Here's a chance for women to add their voices to a blog that protests the selection of Sarah Palin.  More than 70,000 women have already sent in their comments.  Please add your voice to the blog.  I have attached the e-mail with instructions below.  Please recommend this up so that all may see it.  http://womenagainstsarahpalin.blogsp...

success on the campaign trail

by virtual me

My diary is about my experiences as a first time campaign canvasser.  I am out there because I don't want to be the reason Obama loses my state of NH, simply because I haven't done whatever I can. Maybe this isn't as exciting as a juicy tidbit of Sara Palin gossip, for it seems that very few write about or are even aware of the regular army that grinds its way through local streets on behalf of Obama's candidacy day by day, weekend by weekend. Yet the community organizing that Sara Palin dismissed with such arrogance may be the most powerful force that defeats her. I hope people read this diary and are inspired to join the army.
