“Vote Democratic if you care about abortion, and vote Republican if you care about inflation and crime.” That’s what voters are hearing. As Republicans would frame it, Democrats are about wokeness, while Republicans are about the economy and the law.
It’s bullshit. Yet as far as I can tell, this is how most Americans see it. Yes, it’s true that Democrats are the party that cares about women and minorities. But the rest of it is nonsense, and we shouldn’t be letting Republicans get away with campaigning as if their weaknesses are strengths and that the Democrats’ strengths are weaknesses. There are numbers that measure these things, and those numbers are really bad for the Republican narrative.
Let’s keep it simple. In accordance with the Rule of Three, here are three things every American ought to know:
1) 9 out of the 10 states with the most poverty are Republican
2) 7 out of the 10 states with the most violent crime are Republican
3) 10 out of 10 states with the worst healthcare are Republican.
There are a lot of complaints on Daily Kos about Democratic messaging, and it seems for good reason. How is it possible that we have allowed Republicans to control the narrative on crime and the economy for all these years when the facts are so loud and clear that Democrats are the superior party when it comes to these things? Democrats should be shouting these facts from the rooftops 24/7, 365 days a year. Republicans should have no issue they can legitimately run on.
This is not a difficult message to articulate nor to understand. Three simple bullet points. Republican states are the worst for poverty, crime, and healthcare. 8 out of 10, 7 out of 10, and 10 out of 10. One favorite phrase Republicans love to repeat is Democrats’ supposed “failed policies”. With just these three bullet points, that phrase gets turned right back on them. Republican policies are a proven failure. So why aren’t we doing this?
This is probably where I should end this diary, because we should keep the message simple. But there are so many other measures of Democratic superiority that it’s hard not to mention them.
The states with the worst education are all Republican. The most teen pregancies, also Republican. And overall, the number show that Democratic presidents are better for the economy that Republican presidents, and it isn’t even close,
If we expand beyond crime and the economy, it only gets worse for Republicans. The two parties often go back and forth accusing each other of corruption. But there are numbers for this, too, and once again, the numbers show that Republicans suck. Republican administrations have often been wrapped up in crime and scandals. Democrats, not so much.
The empirical data is overwhelming. Democrats are better at governing in every area, But voters have no idea that this is the case.
We don’t need to overwhelm them with all this info. Stick to the rule of 3. To recap, these are the 3 facts every every voter should know and that Democrat should never stop talking about:
1) 9 out of the 10 states with the most poverty are Republican
2) 7 out of the 10 states with the most violent crime are Republican
3) 10 out of 10 states with the worst healthcare are Republican.
Repeat, repeat, repeat.
