Apologies for a sketchy diary, but thought the community would like to know. In Germany, government talks are headed for a grand coalition between conservative CDU (Angela Merkel's party) and more liberal SDP. One of the policy demands of the SDP in the talks is a national minimum wage, which would help workers in the former DDR (east Germany) especially. Heard late this afternoon on Deutsche Welle Journal. Difficult if not impossible to imagine such a thing happening here, but it is a different system of governing.
Perhaps someone else can get more info and a link, as my main experience here is as a lurker and quilter.
DK Quilt Guild: A place for quilters to gather, share ideas, projects, and to make the world a better place, one quilt at a time. Join us and share your thoughts, projects, questions, and tips. Quilters here are at many different levels of skill. Beginners and non-quilters are welcome, too!
Here in Vermont we have lots of quilt guilds with different activities and purposes. Thought I'd share the three I belong to and invite others to add their experiences.
No pictures, since I'm technologically challenged, but hope to improve as time goes on.
to the quilting guild:
sorry to post this in the wrong place but I wanted to stop by and explain my disappearance. I am close to 3 weeks in the hospital/rehab recovering from
2 (count them!) mitrovalve replacement operations. Cause: stenosis which apparently
comes from uncreated rheumatic fever or strep throat. The first valve failed, needing
a second operation. You can guess: not much quoting or other projects.
I will be back with comments and diaries if I can add anything
I have read of many who turn off the media when vitriol and hate speech are sufficiently unsettling to warrant it. Not only is FOX news responsible for this, I suspect, though I have never been a viewer. In recent times, however, I find myself unable to listen to the men and women, primarily politicians, both on CSPAN and the news, who speak with southern accents.
