"I was trying to think earlier today if ever in my life I could remember any major political party being so irrelevant," Limbaugh said on his radio show. "I have never seen a major political party simply occupy placeholders, as the Republican party is doing."
Maybe we need to step back and actually look at the big picture here while the freepers and redstate mouth breathers exhalt what a GOD Willard Romney is for speaking "truth to power" about the 47%ers. I have been very happy, myself, wallowing in the schadenfruede of Willard's speech. With all the layers in the speech from the 47%ers to Iran passing a dirty bomb to hezbollah, and his well thought out solution to the Israel and Palestine problem, what's not to love. Clearly, Willard would make an excellent President, in Bizzaro World.
However, I have been letting this 47%er thing sink in and it hit me, wait a minute, I thought the GOP was all about NOT PAYING TAXES. So when did NOT paying taxes become a bad thing in republican circles? And it turns out, TPM is thinking the same thing. Let's take a look at the headline & story after the orange double dutch...
So says Floyd in 'Hey You'. And the time has come to quit the "kool-aid drinkers" and references to race in disparaging OUR US President Obama. Now I freely admit, I have no idea what is going on in these meta wars between the Pro-Obama supporters and the Anti-Obama retractors but it has gotten so ugly, that a good chunk of Black posters have been reprimanded for pointing out racists comments. For me, I wonder, why are there even racists comments on this site?? Who is causing these problems? Why are they causing these problems? While I do not dive into meta diaries, I see a slew of them pop up on the wreck list pitting one diary against another and realize that this Pro/Anti Obama war is going on. Don't even need to read them as the titles usually say it all. What I have seen are comments about the man himself being less than a man. Now how those arguments mesh with not liking a policy, I don't get. It's juvenile at best and not worthy of serious policy debates that often occur here. Last I checked, this site was made up mostly of people over 40 so I can't believe that there are 40 y/os on this site playing in the sandbox. If you passionately hate President Obama, I suggest FDL would gladly welcome your comments. If you have policy disagreements with President Obama and know how to rationally debate those policies you dislike without disparaging the President or the diarist or even the commentators, then this place is for you.
KO on in the background as I'm reading emails about upcoming events and I hear Keith say Chicago Cubs. "Whaa" my lizard brain says. I look up and start active listening. KO is talking about the owner starting a super pac and the story was covered by someone and now someone else was coming on to talk about it. Arrrghh!!!
Did I do the research? You bet I did! Jump the bump and find it!
Update: The discussion has been lively but please understand, Daschle is part of the problem. GOTV is paramount to make sure people like him and corporations realize that we, the people, are the only "shareholders" that count. Please do what you can so we can keep people like Daschle away from the halls of power. And be sure to donate what you can: Orange to Blue
So there's a report at TPM detailing an interview Tom Daschle had with some reporter. The crux of the tale is that he admitted that the public option was not "on the table" due to the concerns of the hospital associations and the insurance carriers. Well, isn't that something. There's more...of course...
So I'm sitting here, procrastinating on cleaning, watching my beloved Bears play against the dreaded Cowboys (sorry Dallas fans, but I bleed blue, orange, and white) and I'm confronted with the following:
Over the jump, you will be exposed to my opinion. You are forewarned.
