I expect to post additional editorial cartoons in the comments section. Thanks very much for supporting this diary series.

The Wheels of Justice Are Turning Too Slowly
Given all of the legal distractions and non-stop drama around Trump, one can understandably forget a significant fact of this 2024 Campaign: Trump’s Campaign is beginning to have serious financial problems. Unlikely as it looks today, one legal analyst still believes that there is a chance that Trump could face a trial before the 2024 Election.
Money fuels any political campaign, but isn’t that easy to raise. However, potentially (probably?) delaying any of Trump’s legal trials until after the election frees up more time for him to raise money and try to catch up to Joe Biden and the Democrats.
Trump can thank the Supreme Court of the United States for that gift.
Bloomberg: “Groups allied with Biden have already committed to spending more than $700 million to help him beat Donald Trump in the 2024 election… That’s in addition to the $130 million his campaign reported having on hand at the start of February.”
“Trump’s financial situation, by comparison, is starting to show cracks. His campaign spent more than it raised in January and allied political action committees are spending millions on his legal defense that would otherwise go to reelection efforts. The Republican National Committee’s fundraising also lags behind its Democratic counterpart.”
“On top of that, Trump’s personal finances may be strained after court orders to pay a combined $540 million in damages from both a civil fraud suit and a defamation case.”

David Fitzsimmons, the former editorial cartoonist for the Arizona Star, evaluates the future of Trump’s sneakers.
“These sneakers are Melania tested. I can sneak in and out of the house at all hours of the day and she never hears a peep.”
At a National Sneaker fest in Philly Trump showed up to peddle more worthless Trump kitsch, this time America’s Coup hawking Carny-in-Chief was hawking clown shoes, Graceland gold clodhoppers that looked like they were assembled by prison labor who were all Trump associates.

Living in a Fascist Shoe
Hold out for Trump to throw in premiums to boost sales. “Each pair comes with a complete pack of valueless Trump digital trading Cards, a month’s supply of un-refrigerated Trump Steaks, your very own prison pen pal (choose from among hundreds of former Trump White House staffers), a half-opened bottle of Trump Vodka, an official criminal mug shot, courtesy of the State of Georgia and, if you order today, an Honorary Doctorate in “whatever field you can afford” from Trump University.”
“I’ve thrown them at the heads of aides, staffers, Cabinet members, Generals, Lindsey, Mitch, McCarthy… They bounce right off.”
“They’re classy. Makes them ideal for handling classified material!”

Fascism needs a charismatic authoritarian man, an individual called to save the nation from democracy’s supposed failure.
He is seen as a god like being, a cult leader, who alone speaks for the people and champions their presumed common will. A will shaped by the myth of a fascist utopia.

“Alms for the Poor” — Hat tip: MSOC*
* Oldtimers on DK will fondly remember Maryscott O'Connor from the very early days of this blog. A very gifted writer (and former actress) with a talent for using curse words, she could argue persuasively with anyone about any topic under the sun.
When we were allowed to have personalized tip jars beginning with the Scoop system in 2003, Maryscott would always label her tip jar as “Alms for the Poor.”
Her verbal feuds with Armando and other hellraisers on DK were legendary. I had a pretty decent rapport with her. Good times! :-)

Diary Poll
After the 2020 Election, the Pew Research Center did a survey and reported the following results.
Apart from the small shift among Hispanic voters, Joe Biden’s electoral coalition looked much like Hillary Clinton’s, with Black, Hispanic and Asian voters and those of other races casting about four-in-ten of his votes.
Black voters remained overwhelmingly loyal to the Democratic Party, voting 92%-8% for Biden.
What percentage of the Black vote will Trump get nationally in the 2024 Election? Remember to take the diary poll.
