  •  The problem with the system is systemic. (1+ / 0-)

I'm not joking.   The system itself is sick, drowning in money and entrenched interests on all sides.  Third party, anyone?  Corruption corrupts absolutely.

Sorry to sound so cynical, but I think the battle's already lost unless we stop focusing on the symptoms and focus on the cause.

    Just my opinion, of course.

    •  You're right... (0+ / 0-)

We need a constitutional convention to address any number of systemic defects in our government.  Unfortunately, you've got two parties who are completely invested in the status quou.

      I'm not hopeful.

    •  So let's give up! (0+ / 0-)

No, the third-party option in the country is no option. There IS no viable third party. The strongest third parties are ultra-right wing fascist parties. Greens are a joke. What we need is to participate in the system we have at the ground level and start electing people we can trust. Sure, some won't pan out, but many will. For instance, as we head into Ohio's 2014 statewide elections, one thing i want in a candidate is a commitment to work on making elections fair and simple for everyone. I want this in both my gubernatorial and secretary of state candidate. I expect I will get them if the candidates are who i think they might be.

One reason they beat us is they never give up. We whimper "third party" at the drop of a hat.
