I think Dayton is handling the budget situation well.

    •  I personally like Dayton (12+ / 0-)

Here's a man that has had some serious personal issues that he's fighting on a daily basis, and he still has the principles to do the right thing.  I wasn't impressed with him as a Senator, but he's got so many redeeming qualities that it's just hard for me not to admire him.

      •  I deeply admire his comeback (3+ / 0-)

He was toast after his Senate term, the only sign of political acumen he showed was to decline a doomed reelection attempt.

And I rolled my eyes when I learned early on he was running for Governor!  Really, a guy who was so unpopular as a Senator thinks he can get elected Governor, a job to which voters hold higher standards than for a Senate seat?!

But he ran a great campaign, he won in a very tough year, and he was tough when it mattered and was smart enough to compromise and make a deal when he had to.  He got the politics and timing right.

Maybe he hasn't been perfect, but he's truly made the best of a tough situation, which is not something anyone normally should expect of someone who previously in his career made the worst of a much easier situation.

"meh" category. I voted for him, but he is not demonstrating solid leadership. It isn't even that he compromised on the budget, its just his lack of gravitas.

    •  Dayton has been an excellent Governor so (1+ / 0-)
