and regulate these people, I'm not interested in hearing what Great Britain does.  It's too depressing to contemplate.

Thanks to Murdoch, our US leaders are no longer willing to conduct full, thorough investigations on criminals in the media.  Regulations are ignored or dismantled, enforcement is non-existent.

Why rub salt in the wound of Americans who would like to see the US do what Britain is doing?

...all my updates about US action and investigation are just 'rubbing salt in wounds'.

You're providing an invaluable service by creating these diaries. Being able to get all your Murdoch dirt, updates, and popcorn-bait in one place is incredible.

        Keep up the good work!

      •  Obama and Holder will do nothing (0+ / 0-)

They'll slow walk the investigation (behind closed doors) until everyone has forgotten about it and the outrage has died.  They'll jump on or ignore any Congressional hearings that Dems try to call.

Then they'll issue a little report that gets filed away.

Nothing will happen to Murdoch here.  Not with this administration overseeing the investigation.

Now, if they decided to get a Special Prosecutor or Independent Counsel, that would be different.  But those are so 1970's, ya know?

        •  Why, Betty? (0+ / 0-)

I think you may be right about Holder/Obama soft pedaling Murdoch, God save us!  But WHY? What is their real agenda? What can Murdoch ever do for them?
Oh gawd, I am soooooooooo disappointed in Obama. We had such a chance.
Still, we have Eliz. Warren and Howard Dean, both of whom may turn up in the Senate before long, where they can do some good and show what leadership is.
Mr Obama what in hell is wrong with you?  You don't know a friend and you don't know an enemy when you see them. Have you thought of getting glasses?
Oh, to primary Obama. How fine that might be!

          •  They probably think (0+ / 0-)

that Murdoch will "go easy" on them if they don't rock his boat.

From what has been revealed in the GB investigations, that's how he operated w/ government officials over there.  As long as govt. officials didn't bother Murdoch and let him do as he wished, he wouldn't try to blackmail them in his newspapers.

Over here, he owns more than newspapers, he controls TV and radio, too.

No matter how depressing it may be that our investigation has begun years late, it sheds light on the dark corners of the media world News Corp lurks in.

We talked about the Koch brothers for years before the media got it and I'm willing to bet Murdoch will be an even tougher nut to crack. That said, knowing their techniques and their organizations inner workings is invaluable for those of us who want to encourage investigations here, filter their public releases to see their intent, and even just argue with Fox News fans.
