shared by the majority of those who vote.  That's how Republicans took control of the House.

    •  Just in 2010. Not in 2008. (6+ / 0-)

And again, those who turned out in 2010 were Republicans, and Independents who leaned Republican or felt "teach the Dems a lesson."

Without motivating voters, 2012 repeats 2010. The Truman Truism -- give the voters a Real Republican and a Democrat talking like a Republican, they'll pick the Real Republican every time.

      •  Democratic voters have to be more mature than (1+ / 0-)

that.  You can't just vote in one election and expect all the problems to be resolved.

Unless you've got a magic ray which makes voters behave differently than they've behaved wherever there's voting in all of history, you've got to represent the interests of voters.

They are not going to turn out for you, if you don't stand up for them. This is not rocket surgery, even people running for class president in High School know this.

Nobody expected all problems to be resolved. They do expect a) some effort be expended to resolve them in their favor, b) that existing problems NOT be compounded.

All this Republican-based bullshit about the threat of the deficit when cutting entitlements -- and we've just seen this proven in the UK, Ireland, Iceland, Greece, Spain, Italy, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, Cyprus etc -- GUARANTEES that the economy, and jobs will suffer...

C'mon. How is our guys, supposedly, helping to cut our throat going to win elections, get people to turn out. Don't blame the victim.

And we could be talking it now, every minute of the day, and force the Republicans on the defensive and chip away at their cohesion.

      That means many are reachable.
